Yes, sorry, 23, not 28. Whilst I believe most people watching recognise what is probably going on here, I feel desperately sympathetic for those competing against them.

There have been some proper dodgy performances over the years, and defeated athletes are generally very gracious.

Remember Flo Jo in 1988? Went from never previously medalling in a major 100m to absolutely smashing the Olympics in 1988 with a 100m WR that still stands today, when she was 28.

Marcel Jacobs, who won 100m in Japan had a similar infeasible rise in performance from relative obscurity, as did that Greek bloke that beat Darren Campbell in the 200m at Sydney and then barely competed again.
