That goal would make the top 20 all time prem goals for sure. Best ever? No.

1 Bergkamp v Newcastle for me
2 Di Canio v Wimbledon
3 Henry v man utd (flick and volley)
4 le tiss run v newcastle
5 cantona v Sunderland
6 yeboah v Liverpool

But would Poyet v Sunderland get into the top 20?

Eddie Gray vs Burnley April 4th 1970. Watch and drool. Its on Youtube

Amazing how he managed that on a field resembling that of the Somme.

I never understand Yeboah's being in the top 20, its a good goal but there have been much better goals, its because it hit the bar in the way it did.

I just saw it on ssn. M'eh. I've scored better in five aside games.

:jester:

I know everyone is saying he meant it, and I agree it was a definite shot, but I think he meant to curve it into the near post. But then I'm a cynic.

What annoys me when people say 'ah but he didnt mean it to go in that close to the post, he just hit it' when they talk about special goals is this.

EVERY kick in football has an element of luck to it. Of course you know what you MEAN to do, but the chance of you getting the ball EXACTLY (and i mean EXACTLY) where you wanted it (to the cm) is near on impossible.

Rooneys wonder overhead kick was spectacular, but he certainly didnt aim to get in in the top corner.

Van basten's volley. Its PHENOMENAL for the technique, but it's even better as he got it in from such a tight angle.

So goals like Crouch's and Cisse's should never be tarnished with the phrase 'he just hit it'. Yeah, so what? thats what EVERY long-ranger is in theory. Its having the balls to try it and hit it with the perfect technique.

Goal of the season I think, but if you had a list of 10 goals, he has scored at least 4 that could be on that list (first goal yesterday, his debut goal, his lofted shot over the keeper a month ago...).

Crouch must be royally pissed at this.

He scores a WORLDY for STOKE and it STILL wont be goal of the season.

That's gotta hurt.
