Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times but are all tickets for away games paper (like gloriously old fashioned Forest) or are some digital - thinking about how I might share it if I can't go

Mostly still paper tickets at the moment, though more and more clubs are going down the paperless route now, even for away tickets, sadly . . . in my opinion anyway.

I think that has had a lot of debate on here over the years. But it’s a strict no no to share tickets, even away tickets. When I went to an away game recently with paper tickets, my name had been hand written on there with a Sharpie. For a while it was doubtful I could go, luckily I could go in the end but I’d probably have just pinned them on the kitchen notice board otherwise. Could you get away with it if you really wanted to? Probably, but I would say most believe the downside of being caught is not worth it.

They do seem pretty keen on this!

"We would like to remind you that ad-hoc ID checks will be taking place at the turnstiles, so you will need to bring photo ID (eg Passport, Driver's Licence) with you to the game. The ID must match the name of the owner of the ticket. Anyone considered not to be a genuine concession may have to provide proof of age to turnstile staff.

Supporters found to be passing on away tickets will be subject to a 5 Premier League home game ban and a 50-loyalty point deduction. During that time, the Supporter will not be able to purchase or attend tickets for any games."

I guess also it could circumvent the Loyalty Points system, banning orders etc...

A Couple of reasons I can think of.

Fans may have missed out on a ticket because you had more loyalty points to enable you to buy one, and if you share it with someone who does not have sufficient loyalty points then a more deserving fan may have missed out.

The person you share it with might have a banning order or other restriction, allowing that fan to attend the game wouldn’t be acceptable.

The club has been pretty clear on their reasons for some time now, perhaps the OP is just fishing.

Can be either, but you can’t share away tickets, and risk some serious sanctions if you get caught. Club website has all the details.

This has been discussed ad nauseam.
It is to do with misbehaviour, the passing on of tickets to 'away' fans, and suchlike.
There are of course solutions, but we don't discuss them on here.

At Forest, all attendees at my turnstile had to produce photo ID matching the name on the ticket. First time I’ve had that.

Clever variation of sampling techniques by the club rather than using what most would expect by ‘random’. Almost like they have a statistician in the background somewhere :lolol:

80% of away tickets are mobile download tickets now. Not many clubs have paper tickets anymore - in fact before Forest last weekend, I can’t even remember the last time I had a paper away ticket.
