This isn't a post to celebrate Palace's turnaround in form, although it's hard not to be slightly impressed after their shocking start.

I wonder if the players have an extra bit of motivation knowing they are breathing down our necks. At this stage of the season any extra incentive for a final push could be huge.

Dunk aside, I never know if the rivalry resonates with the players. Perhaps most just see Palace as another team they'd like to finish above?

I suspect they do, given their players celebrating / winding up ‘the tunnel club’ after the Amex game

Don't know what you're talking about. It was always known that Palace were qualifying for the CL this season – it was agreed with the PL after they won a few meaningless games at the end of last season, apparently. And ever since Liverpool and Arsenal staked solid claims for the other two places, the whole league's effectively been fighting over the final remaining 4th slot after that trio.

Like any in the top 12 - as we have shown put a solid run together and you can be right back in the mix for Europe especially with the uncertainty of how many places will get a European place. Their bad start may cost them but like last year they are picking up points later in the season.
Their April defines the season for them. Us, Man City, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Arsenal and then Notts Forest first game in May. They will be either be right in the mix or will fade away.

We need to keep them at arms length.

We could really do with a win at Selhurst.
That should scupper any chance they have of Europe.

Then there's the small matter of the cup.

Our bad start was really annoying as we were playing ok with a depleted squad and just not winning.

Yesterday again missing a couple of players we were poor and sloppy but still managed a win, unfortunately we have too many points to catch for 7th or 8th, but with both Brighton and palace topping the form guide ( forget Liverpool) perhaps the premier league may be turning into something a bit different in the next couple of years ?

They are 7 points behind us.

Which sounds great.

But their next game is saints which is a guaranteed 3 points.

We have city and villa next. We really need to win one of those. Let's imagine we pick up one point from those two, which is a fairly likely outcome.

Going into the game at selhurst they would be 5 behind us with a game in hand. IF and this is a big IF they beat us they will be 2 points behind with a game in hand.

In short, looking forward to getting the next 3 league games out the way!! We are in great form but we are due a dip.

On a positive note our last run of games is mostly Vs teams on the beach.

Yeah, but then they've got City away, Newcastle away, Bournemouth at home, Arsenal away, and Forest at home. That's pretty tough.

Can't say I pay that much attention to the relegation fight or the mid table also rans.

Given that Palace have a buffet match at Southampton and also us at home, it's quite feasible that they could catch us soon. I certainly wouldn't rule Palace out the Euro slots just yet.

Palace are what I call a SHOTS team (second half of the season). Always seem to be.

I think the reality is that Europe is beyond both teams but it would be nice if we kept the dream alive till the death, finish above Palace and go deeper in the cup.

It definitely feels like a season of fine margins hence some of the bedwetting on here over the season when things haven't gone our way.
We are half a dozen or so wins away from having the best season in our history but it's also highly likely we finish mid table with nothing to show for our huge efforts and behind our arch rivals.

It may well be turning into something different in the next couple of years, or it may go back to normal with us in Europe and you looking over your shoulders at the relegation battle. All up for grabs and only time will tell

I, like many others on this board, put last seasons late surge from Palace down to teams on the beach, teams with nothing to play for and a bit of luck. I still believe that had a bit to do with it, and the poor results at the start of the season seemed to bear that out, however it would be foolish I think for anyone to still hold that view about your current form. A couple of wins here and there are one thing but the last two months puts Palace and Brighton firmly in the top 4 with points against teams from throughout the table

Luckily for us, we are matching your results (Even with the 0-7)and the time is fast running out for Palace to make up the difference

After such a long period of basically being able to name the European and Cup winners teams at the start of the season, its really good to have a league that has 12 teams all in with a realistic shout of European qualification with 10 games to go, and the FA Cup quarter finals with just 1 of the toxic 6, EVEN if one of them is Palace
