Paddy's coming home:-

They've finally come to a financial agreement and commitment then. Not exactly from a position of strength. They'd have been better off with Freedman taking over but the populist board were too scared to sanction that. Far easier to do when Viera bombs.

Strange choice as current managerial track record is pretty poor.

Wonder what the odds are for him to be first Premier League dismissal next season

Sorry, perhaps it will work but what has Vieira done in his managerial career to justify getting this job?

Sorry, perhaps it will work but what has Vieira done in his managerial career to justify getting this job?

Having hung up his boots, Vieira began his transition into coaching at Manchester City’s Academy, embarking on a four-year apprenticeship in management that included a spell managing the club’s Elite Development Squad.

He departed City for the States and the 2016 Major League Soccer season, taking up the managerial position at New York City F.C, who had finished 17th the season prior. He led them to second place in the Eastern Conference in his first season, with the side finishing fourth place overall. The next season, another second place position in the Eastern Conference was secured, and Vieira’s side ended overall league runners-up.

Vieira subsequently returned to France to manage Ligue 1 club Nice in 2018, securing a seventh place finish in his first season - one place higher than their previous campaign. In 2019/20, Vieira’s side placed fifth in a curtailed season, securing a Europa League spot in the process.

In fairness, I don't think there is necessarily anything wrong with Viera's managerial credentials.
However the job is a big one.
A Premier League club , with financial concerns in need of a complete squad overhaul.
That's a big ask for even the most experienced of managers.

Palace tend to get away with these sort of things, so i won't make any predictions on tehe likely outcome of all this.

Yup.

A bit of a hospital pass from Beaky there. If the squad as assembled is a bit ropey, it'll be Paddy V's fault.

Let's just hope he does enough not to get sacked until it is too late.

I think Nuno would have lifted the squad's spirits better but never mind.

Well at least their planning all came together and they managed to get their first choice in a timely manner :lolol:

His ability to say "yes" when asked if he wants to manager palace.

Seemingly it's harder than you'd think.

And his last season (2020-21) at Nice, loz, how did that go?

But no mention off him tanking the second season.

Acccording to the BBC, "Parish said he was "delighted"........."

Surely that should have been 'relieved'?
