I wish that were the extent of our injuries!

Spent nearly the whole season without our best RW (March), spent half the season without Mitoma, Enciso, Estupinan, Hinshelwood, Pedro, Veltman and with lengthy injuries to Pedro, Van Hecke, Igor, Milner, Gilmour, Lallana and Ferguson.

We were absolutely ravaged by injures last season.

For reference, the game against Man United that was mentioned we had two of our best 11 starting (Pedro and Gross), with only another 2 of them on the bench (Verbruggen and Gilmour).

Despite that we were the better team and should have won.

TBF I think all teams for whatever reason suffered loads of injuries last season, were Brighton any worse than other clubs ?

Same as, love to beat you and finish above Brighton, but that’s as far as I go, living in and around BHA fans and never had a bad word and plenty of light hearted banter.

Looks like they have agreed a £12m deal for Ismaila Sarr. I always thought he was a bit special. Seems like a good deal.
A right footed, right winger whose Sarr was high about 5 years ago when Liverpool were said to be interested.

Watford had signed him from Stade Rennais FC for £25m and he’d had a good season or two. However, he was no Joao Pedro. Despite rumours galore, he stayed at Watford and became a standard championship winger. But not a stand out one like Gnonto, Summerville, Philogene or Rowe.

His Sarr had sank so low that Marseilles managed to sign him last year for £11m. Do you remember him on the pitch against us in each leg? I don’t.

He obviously has a bit about him and I’m sure that he is good enough for the Premier League but I don’t think his signing is going to inspire the Palace observers.

We have at least four better wingers in our squad.

Why ? Why pass the ball in the 6 yard box, not only risky and pointless but boring to watch….keeper to CB>LB>GK>RB>CB and on and on and everyone does it, just mix it up a bit FFS!

Maybe I am a philistine but get the ball up the park and win the second ball. Every now and again.
You are Gareth Southgate and I claim my £5!

Do you find passing the ball back and forth along the back four exciting? As I said mix it up a bit, I mean sometimes it’s passed back and forth 10/ 12 passes and then just cleared up the park….snorfest.
The main problem is possession is the key to most tactics deployed these days. Even in a traditional cup game City or whomever may be playing much lower league opposition but they retain the ball from a long ball and punish. Brighton can be one of the most tedious sides at times but it gets results and you cannot deny the rise in our clubs fortunes under Potter, RDZ, etc.

If, in this era, we’d had been far more effective in front of goal we’d have been even more successful.

I think the occasional, surprise, long ball should be used. Once or twice in a half to keep their defenders guessing. But the key is a surprise. The keeper waving everyone forward for a goal kick and then lumping it up towards the big man, is a rubbish tactic that is just as likely to result in a swift counter attack as anything else.

Especially if your centre half then lets it bounce... 😉
