Adelaide United offer Cheltenham’s Owusu two-year deal | A League News | tribalfootball.com

Cheltenham Town striker Lloyd Owusu has reportedly been offered a deal by Adelaide United.

The Sun suggested that the Robins told Owusu they cannot afford to keep him after being relegated to England’s League Two.

The report also said that Adelaide had offered him a two-year deal.

Owusu has been on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion this season and has also had stints at Yeovil Town, Brentford, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Why would he want to go there?

He has done well in his short spell with us but he must look after his own best interests.

If Murray and Forster are fit and the rumours of us signing Luke Rogers are true then I do not see that he would figure in RS plans. It was RS who let him go from Yeovil to Cheltenham.

I do not see him as a 46 game a season 20 goal scorer at his age but for a short period he was a good signing.

I don't think we should be offering him anything for more than a one year deal.

With Forster and Murray Im not even sure we should be breaking the bank to keep him at all.

Great opportunity for him. Good luck to him, whatever he decides.

If he stays great, if he goes hey ho. The fact is Murray and Forster are our first choice and in all honesty a fit and confident Davies in a good team is third choice and cover for Nicky as he gets older. So I would not blame Lloyd for going. We shall see but would be no suprise or worry if he goes.

i would have thought he did enough on loan to have earned a deal, however as said above, when Murray and Foz are fit would he be happy with a place on the bench?
and if Craig Davies starts finding the net (i already think his work rate is excellent) would owusu even get a look in?
Good luck to him whatever he chooses and a huge thankyou for his efforts this season.
I would rather have him than Luke Rodgers though.

But he is another option- we don't have a striker like him. I think if we really do want to be a top 6 team then we need that extra option.

And Luke Rodgers? Please no. Where the hell did this rumour come from? Is it because Micky Adams snapped up a load of former Coventry players, we are now going to link Russell Slade to all the Yeovil ones?

it was on sky sports website a few days ago, apparently he has left Yeovil and is expected to join up with Slade at Brighton. To be fair a few years ago i would have loved it if we had signed him, and even now his goals to games ratio is good but he hasnt done it for some time now and always comes across as a stroppy twat to me.

I agree. The reason he got those goals was because he got the service which was absent from the team for most of the season. He would be, at best, third choice behind Forster and Murray, possibly even Hart and Davies and I am not sure at his age he wants to play reserve team football and warm the bench.

Given the choice between offering Gary Hart a contract or Owusu, it would have to be OGH everytime.

Luke Rodgers was only third choice at Crewe a couple of years ago. Fallen out with several managers and not what we need to push for promotion.

but then how many players do you see who just love playing for one particular manager...Look at how well the current crop of players have taken to Slade...

Sometimes, players are shit because they don't get on with a manager for whatever reased...You just need to look at Loft & Hart since Slade arrived to see the proof.

I'm not and have never been a fan of Luke Rodgers. However, I have always thought he had potential and it appears that Slade may be the man who can help him realise that.
