STRIKER Lloyd Owusu is set for a 'getting to know you' visit to Adelaide United next week as player and club look to decide if they are right for each other.
The experienced striker, who is also wanted by English third tier club Brighton and Hove Albion, will spend several days working with the Reds before a decision on his future is made.

Reds football director Michael Valkanis told the Adelaide Advertiser: "He wants to weigh up which way to go and at the same time we'll weigh up our options."

Adelaide are also thought to be considering moves for players currently based in Chile and Argentina respectively.

Ooooh Dick doesn't like players who try and force his hand...as Owusu is likely to find out now.

Probably best for him, he just isn't going to get in the team here

If he's going to Australia that suggests it's about more than just trying to winkle another tank of petrol out of us.

If (yes yes it's a big if) our other strikers stay fit we don't desperately need Owusu, it would be nice to keep him but it might come down to more than just what we can offer.

Wasn't a hope in hell he would stay with that offer on the table!

I'm sure Adelaide will use Paul Reid to try and sell Adelaide to Owusu.

There's also the opportunity to play in the Asian Champions league which might be a lure as well.

Good luck to him. Served a purpose but I don't honestly think he is one for a promotion push next year. I hardly think he is going to fly to Oz just to try and make DK make a decision. At his age, I would't blame him for heading to the sun. He ain't going to earn a fortune with us but in an inferior league could be a big hit and with that comes the endorsements etc.

True, but he needs a holiday and maybe they helped pay or even paid his fare so he could have a look around.. I wouldn't blame him signing for them if the money is similar tbh

If he goes we still have Davies and Hart as back up plus Luke Rogers is available and RS knows all about him, which managers tend to go for somebody who has played for them before or they know all about.

bearing in mind that they are likly to be paying for him to go out, i wouldnt jump to the conclusion that he's trying to force our hand, he could be just up for a free holiday.

be nice for him to stay but its a not a big deal either way. he probably wants to be in the first choice pairing, and here he knows he will always be backup to Forster.

I would suggest a 2 year offer from us would keep him here. Cant see Adelaide would be paying the sort of money that would make that sort of massive family upheaval worth it if he also had a decent 2 year offer on the table from us.

He's a hero for scoring the goals that kept us up, but in the long-term I wouldn't be too sad to see him go. We can do better - in fact we already have better.

Exactly how I feel about him, did a brilliant job on loan for us but I'm not convinced he's best for us longer term.

Would he be in the team in front of a fully fit Forster and Murray? I think the lure of the sun and guarenteed first team 'soccer' would be very tempting for the big man. Good luck LO

We need him or a player like him... don't think we have that at the moment... a big centre forward who work his socks off for the team, I mean...
