Really wasn't expecting that but good luck to him.

I would LOVE IT if he somehow stayed injury free and recaptured his best form playing for the red scum's city rivals

I thought he was playing for West Brom, no ?

I believe he had a medical at West Brom and they subsquently offered him a pay-as-you-play deal. Nothing signed though, so Hargreaves is still a free agent.

Got it off the Twitter stream of one of the TalkSport presenters.

They usually know what's going on

You're being ironic now, yes?

He'll have fun at City warming their bench for a season.

Mr Hargreaves being released by Man City. By all accounts he's been pretty fit but suffered with niggles as his body got back to full training after so long away. Given the amazing job our support team did with Vicente, makes you wonder whether he'd be worth a punt, especially on a pay as you play.

I would LOVE it if that happened. He's England's best defensive midfield - well, he was at least - when fit. If he didn't cost much and we get 10 good games out of him it would be worth it.

His pay as you play deal would be sickingly expensive.

For a defensive midfielder i honestly wouldn't bother.

With Vicente it's different as he is an IMPACT player. Hargreaves is not a player to come on and grab two goals. He keeps the game ticking (well well, mind).

Hargreaves holding the fort while Vicente provides the assists for Michael Owen...

I'd love him to come here but he'd probably be able to get more money elsewhere. When fit he was much more than a defensive midfielder. He also played as a wing-back and when at Bayern he took all the free kicks and corners to great effect, he's been a real loss to England.

If he wasn't so injury prone, he would have been one of the best midfielder's England have had. His first season with United was brilliant and won a champions league. I would take him on in a second.

If it were financially viable within our structure and still leaving us room for whoever else Gus wants, then pay as you play would be well worth a go.

That said though, I would expect such a deal to take up a big lump of budget and there are definitely areas in more urgent need of strengthening.

I'm sure he could do a job every now and again but for the money that would be asked (probably), I'd fear that he could become an expensive novelty.

Who knows what he'd ask for, the guy has had his career ripped from him in his prime. I doubt money is an issue at all at this stage, he may, like Vicente just want to enjoy the game once again. I don't think he's in any position to be demanding massive money, Brighton would be perfect for him under a great coaching and medical team playing football he'd enjoy.

You could say the same for the England defence - if Ledley King and Woodgate had stayed fit over the years, we wouldn't have had to suffer with Terry - he wouldn't have got a look in.

1 good tournament for England does not make him a great player. He isn't of the same quality of many of our english Midfielders and has never played regularly in the premiership. He's nothing on Parker in a defensive role
