Cancelled our holiday for August and glad I have, there will be plenty of restrictions still in place, anybody that thinks it will be a normal holiday will be in for a shock,
plenty of all inclusives with own private pools for superb prices.

I'm sure you can get travel insurance but check what it actually covers.

Just booked my mates wedding in Malta middle of September after it being cancelled last month.
Bought annual insurance in November when I went to Amsterdam so assume I'll still be covered

I’ve had a look at the changes, predictably any covid-related (or fear of) event is now excluded. Makes sense.
I realise that’s just one insurer, but this makes sense.
All inclusives - shared serving handles, mixed cutlery, mass dining. What could go wrong?
You sir are a git ! I turned 50 during lockdown so couldn't go on my trip to Amsterdam to celebrate. I couldn't go out to dinner. I couldn't even go to the pub. And now you make me realise I qualify for SAGA holidays. If I had an ignore list I'd have to add you
I feel its safe as the medical experts are saying it safe to do so with precautions. I'm not medically trained so can only trust what the experts tell us which is what we have been doing all along. Not sure if any NSC users are professionally trained to the level to make public decisions on the current state of the pandemic.
On that basis i will be booking trips away for the rest of the year unless they tell us otherwise.

Do some people think resorts are stupid Spain for example, have introduced many safety measures that will make your trip entirely safe whilst you are there - the only risky thing is the plane journey IMO, and providing people use common sense and take hygiene seriously this shouldn’t be a massive issue, a couple of all inclusive resorts where I am a member have emailed me with the protocols.
Strict one way system around buffets
Limited capacity ins restaurants with people having to wear masks when they are not at their table.
Spaced out tables
Outdoor dining encouraged
Hand sanitising when entering
Masks worn in enclosed areas (similar to U.K)
To me, I totally understand people not wishing to travel for health reasons but I’ve got used to wearing a mask in shops and things now so it will be no different to here and it shouldn’t diminish the holiday experience too much, of course it all depends how much the protocols bother you, I’ve been looking at a few places I wouldn’t normally consider because of the british lout culture taking over in the summer, with most clubs being shut as a non Clubber that’s another plus for me.
There’s a risk with everything during these times, it’s up to your personal preference if you are willing to risk it and these countries will put a lot of resources into keeping things very safe but as normal as possible, millions of jobs and livelihoods depend on them keeping things safe.
I’m only teasing, some great offers, although we did a Turkey all inclusive 2 years ago and each of us got a norovirus despite being very cautious with hand sanitisers etc. Only hit us as 24hr bugs, but despite being a more expensive resort which did appear to have high hygiene standards, they couldn’t eliminate this bug as Trip Advisor told us on our return. We couldn’t have done anymore in terms of hand washing, sanitising, I didn’t pick up a single servicing utensil without holding it with a clean napkin.

I get it that some people quite rightly don’t think it’s safe yet to travel, the fact is you soon will be and those that choose to go have decided it’s safe, they shouldn’t need to justify their decision to those that don’t, it seems we have developed a culture these days that any decision you make requires justification if it doesn’t fit the other’s narrative.

I have a fishing trip to Norway coming up on 6th August. I have everything crossed and am considering finding religion as a safeguard.
