Overly zealous stewarding / evicted at Leeds

Great game yesterday, good atmosphere, friendly stewards, friendly banter and chat with away support, before and after the game. Gutted that whilst enthusiastically celebrating Ulloa's winner I inadvertently placed my left foot momentary on the red tarmac around the pitch. This prompted a steward to run over and begin to escort me from the the ground, despite all the stewards around him telling him to let it go. I repeatedly said sorry, politely said I didn't realise I had done anything wrong and that my six year old son was now left in the ground. His response was that he wanted the police to arrest me! At this point a very helpful policeman from Sussex arrived quickly on the scene, said he saw the whole incident. We then agreed, by mutual consent that I would leave the ground to appease the steward. The head steward was also clearer embarrassed by the actions of his subordinate but probably felt he couldn't undermine him. Shame that our day was spoilt and that my boy got traumatised because of the complete over reaction of one individual to someone simply celebrating a massively important goal.

I saw that and whilst it was a bit over zealous, with a 6yo in tow was a tad irresponsible we all know the score. But we all get caught up in the moment ! Glad it was sorted out though

Yes obviously I felt awful as I am responsible. Thing is I didnt know the score. I thought it was an offence to go on the pitch. I was excited, jumping up and down and stepped on the tarmac for a split second as Ulloa came over.

I saw this and unfortunately just confirms that the Leeds stewards are the most over zealous I've come across in many years of supporting the Albion. Why did they see it necessary to frisk everyone including my 14 year old daughter before going into the ground.....we hardly have a history of trouble making. Just confirms what an unpleasant place it is to attend. Rant over.

They wouldn't let me and my son take in our toy plastic pistols. Their head of security warned me I had a bad attitude.

Interestingly, I mentioned the frisking to the steward as I went in - he kindly showed me the 'haul' he'd taken from Brighton fans so far (this was about 2:30). The bucket of contraband included about 3 or 4 heavy-duty stanley knives, some toys, a plastic bow and arrow, loads of flags (looked like the regular ones that get taken to away games), and enough booze to get the stewards pissed for months.

Blimey, I thought that if you were found with a Stanley knife you'd be arrested, not just have it confiscated? Who the heck is idiotic enough to try to take one into a football match? Apart from an arts and crafts aficionado...
