Does anyone know what it is at the Amex and who it was against?

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
It's interesting that 4 teams have bigger higher attendances than us, but we have the highest average this season :amex:

Amazing, as it was only 3 seasons ago that fortress Withdean wasn't sold out on a regular basis!

Brighton v Palace in March could well be the highest Championship attendance all season.

You've been framed!!

TBH I don't know that we'll ever know the record attendance ... those numbers are tickets sold, not bums on seats

Stupid isn't it? All the teams in the Championship do this now, what really is the point? There reasons are to do with attracting coroprate sponsorship, but surely they also know the numbers are a joke too?

In theory it should but I'd imagine it won't, Palace will have a limited ticket allocation & blocks will be closed off to separate the scum from the home fans

I'd like to see actual attendance announced as otherwise we're pretty much guaranteed a minimum 22k attendance just from season ticket holders alone, it shouldn't be too difficult to query the access control system

It's not, but that has nothing to do with why they give ticket sales numbers.

Surely tickets sold is the only stat that really matters ? At the end of the day it's a business and the revenue through tickets sales is what is most important, not who can or can't be arsed to turn up on the day.

For me it's only a curiosity, so nothing of any importance.

I suppose the only reason to track real attendance would be for policing & transportation purposes

It is from a club and P&L perspective and I guess the purist might be able to argue that with the ticket exchange there's a possibility that tickets sold could be greater than the total number of seats in the stadium.

But it's just a matter of interest to see how many people are in

All clubs should be obliged to publish two statistics per game: Actual attendance, and Total ticket sales revenue.

Bit like they always used to do for Wembley Cup Finals...

I pretty sure they do do this. The other figure usually goes to police room or what have you. Hence why we found out Palace's attendance cheat last yr (PC Baulkam's twitter) (11.9k home fans i thnik it was)

As far as business concerned, yes that's true.

However, it's published as "attendance", that is those who ATTEND so it does make a mockery of the term.

I've no problem publishing it as it is currently as that's how they all do it but I'd like to know the real attendance figures too. e.g. Tickets sold - 27000, attendance - 26500 etc.

All in all though, the figures aren't going to be *that* much out anyway, probably no more than 10%. Same for all clubs I suspect.
