Our LEAGUE Position as descibed my Adams/Sullivan

Watching Sky Sports News last night when I got in from the game, they showed interviews from Micky Adams and John Sullivan.

Adams said our league position was FALSE

Sullivan said our league position was UNJUSTIFIABLE


I dont agree with either of those statements, I think we are at the bottom end of the table because we have played pretty poorly since September. We are in 19th, one point out of the relegation zone because we have been poor, and won only 4 games.

Even last night, we failed to break down a not very good division 4 team. I was pleased with result, the performance was OK in very short patches in the second half, and the chance of Wembley is the little glimmer of light left for the rest of the season.

I still dont believe we will go down, and I believe we will get a day out at Wembley which will be a good deflection away from an unsuccessful league campaign.

Are Adams and/or Sullivan right, who would you describe our league position?

Surprising! Pre season i honestly thought our squad had improved massively. I guess thats what Adams and Sullivan mean but are trying to be a bit more positive.

I agree with the sentiments of both MA and JS that we are in a false position because our squad is better than that but also agree that it is down to errors made by the teams ie players and management staff that we are in the position that we are and it is only the correcting of these errors that will rectify the situation. Hopefully this will be done in the next couple of weeks starting with a positive result at Tranmere. A very good friend of mine, ex Chief Scout at Liverpool, tells me that Ronnie Moore is one of the nicest and most genuine men in football but to me he comes across as a prat and I always love to see us stuff any side that he manages.

I understand what they said - our squad is better than our league position suggets. I agree, but it isn't really an excuse. By saying what they said, they are simply recognising that they have been underperforming.

We are where we are in the league because by and large we have been very poor this season.

The Manager has made some strange decisions both in terms of selection and positional, (as well as tactical) players have not performed to their ability and have made individual errors.

Add these up, and not surprisingly we haven't won many games.

Yes, we may have some decent players and we have the potential to finish a lot higher up the league, but take in account the factors above, no our league position is not false.

Personally I hope that last night kick starts our season, however if we don't get at least 4 points from the next 3 league games we'll be in big trouble.

Someone should tell modern players that the key measure of their performance is the number of POINTS they have, rather than the number of well-worn cliches they can trot out in interviews.

I'm sure the players are not happy about the league position but bleating on about how 'false' needs to be backed up by PERFORMANCES.

How can our position in the League be False or Unjustified when it is due to the FACTS of games Won Drawn and lost. It is not a judgement call.
If we have a team of good players, then I can see a game or two where the ball does not run our way, but not for four straight months of fixtures.

If I was a betting man I'd wager we'll finish the season in a higher spot than where we are now. And given the fact manager and player had both reached a cup final you can forgive them for their comments.

The only word of caution here is they wouldn't be the first team to get relegated thinking they're better than they are - Forest , Leeds and West Ham immediately spring to mind.

I have backed Adams from the off but am turning. What is really pissing me off now is that Adams is making out that if we AVOID relegation this season that he has somehow pulled off a managerial masterstroke and " turned things around ". It seems now that 15th would be considered a fabulous season by Adams ( and the board ). Adams stated he is the man to do this. With respect Micky we came 7th and there was not a lot that needed " turning around " and I expected him to improve on that and therefore 6th or above was my expectation this season. Now we are 20th and Adams has lowered the bar and written this season off. The " I did not know we had to be 6th by October " is looking a howler now and we have been brainwashed in recent weeks into thinking relegation will somehow have exceeded expectations. Well I don't fecking buy it.

I would agree with Sullivan that are position is unjustifiable (not unjustified) - we should be much higher than we are.

The only way it is false is that we could be on less points. At no time have we lost/drawn games and been able to say we were unlucky not to get more.

It just shows how much Micky Mouse knows about football really doesn't it!? As our manager, he should be able to identify the difference between a team playing well and a team playing shit. Unfortunately we are the latter. But by lying about it, does he think we are all going to believe him?

Ronnie Moore is one of the nicest and most genuine men in football

after every home game at millmoor when he was rotherham manager he would always come into the executive bars and spend anything up to an hour in there talking to fans - absolute legend

our league position is completely justifiable - we just havent been good enough this season

Well, on SCR last night during the phone in, Dicky said Micky is the man that's going to lead us out at Falmer as part of the long term objective.

so when Micky said 'fans have got to stick with it' he wasn't lying!
