Having watched the Albion for more than 30 years, I think that our defence as a unit is the worst that I have ever known.

The new manager really needs to bring in some defencive coaching staff & I suggest do a Mickey Adams and put all of our existing defenders on the transfer list.

They are an embarrassment

Wycombe just had a perfectly decent goal disallowed.

As our defenders, can't, i suggest that next week, that we bring in 4 new players. Say midfielders & attackers in defence. They couldn't do a worse job could they.

Our existing back 4 (all of them) should be dropped IMO

It doesnt alter the fact our defense is rubbish though. Get shot of Elphick and Virgo I say. Get an experienced head in and play him alongside Tunnicliffe.

maybe not the best qualified to comment as ive only seen us play 5 times this season but it seems to me opposition forwards have sussed out that el abd is not very good so most of the attacking play goes the way of adam and he is found out time and time again,if i can see this after 5 games surley any manager worth his salt can

I,ve been watching for the last 45 years............and I cannot honestly remember a more ill-disciplined squad of players. Very embarrassing.

PS; We conceded 4 goals against a side who have scored just 6 goals in 8 home league games.

Is it just the defence or is it we don't defend as a team because the Oldham match for instant Crofts was leaving el Abd exposed all game.

So is our MIDFIELD good at attacking but not prepared to cover defensively leaving 2 on 1?

Wilkins made the team defend as a unit and that's exactly how we can shut up shop better without the wholesale change of the entire defence going just one experienced central defender on loan and the team defending through the team.

Fickle on here, aren't we - not long ago we were supportive of our home-grown players - El Abd, Elph, Virgo, Fraser etc. - and in the Wilkins era there seemed to be a genuine supply of youngsters coming through. They might not have been great, but they were OUR not great players........over the summer, it seemed that a lot of the local lads had been given away, to be replaced at great expense (by our standards) by players who, judged by pre-season and results so far, are no better than those we gave away.
Yet suddenly, it's the local lads being vilified - OK, so none of them are playing like they did at the end of last season - far from it, in fact - but is that bad management, bad coaching - or has the clearout ripped the identity from the team? Just a thought........
