Currently with Pipex. Real problems with their email service. Not been able to send or receive for 2 weeks. Plus their download speeds are getting worse. All to do with them changing to a new "improved" system . Judging by comments on the web from other Pipex users it's a mess and they are not doing much to solve.Want out so any views? BT; Sky; O2 or any others you rate?

We had the same problems with Pipex, and moved to Zen. Not cheap, but excellent service.

Me too - Homechoice was taken over by TISCALI shunters and for 4 weeks we had no broadband connection.. "it's coz your on Mac computors.we don't support Mac's..." Err there is no broadband into the house, mac or not actually.. :censored: Cue more unhelpful 1 hour calls to India..

Then found ZEN, and are great. Feels like a little company all sitting around one desk, just here to help you..

BTW, i think tiscalli have taken over most broadband providers, inc PIPEX

OP - look her for good info - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/

Pipex were great back in the day but aren't the same company anymore. Definitely time to get rid.

I'm with o2, it costs me £10 for 16mb unlimited broadband as I have a phone contract with them too.

Sadly you do need a BT line which makes it more expensive, but I don't have a choice in my flat and if you have a landline anyway then it's not going to cost you any more.

The speed is absolutely brilliant. There are 3 computers in my pad, often downloading large files at the same time and yet the connection is never compromised.

Full length, high quality movies can be on my hard drive within minutes and nobody else even notices I'm rinsing the connection.

Had Virgin in my old house and it was absolutely useless whenever anyone was downloading torrents or high speed direct file transfers.

o2 is infinitely better.

If you don't have an o2 phone contract however you may as well go for be broadband, which is the same thing.

Think they offer even higher speeds than 16mb too, if you really wanna go mad

I could and would recommend AOL to you. But MYOB would only then come on and say it's shit - for reasons that nobody from the planet Earth would understand

AOL are shit. Its constantly downloads updates to your machine and is way too intrusive for my liking.

I'm with BT at the moment. Not had any problem with it at all. Also the advantage is that as they own the line and the link to the phone exchange then any problems with them means that they can't blame someone else. This does happen with other companies who like to blame BT for the line or the connection to the exchange.

Have the much maligned TalkTalk here (partly because we make many free international phone calls). A bit slow but we're a long way from the exchange. However no issues with the service which is more than I can say for my time with BT. Agreed Tiscali are complete rubbish though and should be avoided.

I've got BT broadband (6 years and counting) and never had any problems.

I also have their Vision IPTV service which runs over the broadband. This gives me access to Sultana Sports, Kids TV (very important) and Films for one-off rental. It's a pretty cheap deal for extra TV. Very Happy. :)

I know Tiscali have a bad press, but other than a couple of billing issues I have no problem with them. £14.99 for broadband and phone line is a good deal.

I use Plusnet and have done since 2001. They are very honest and open about their traffic shaping policies and limits.
They are not the cheapest, but they do have a UK call centre, and a very good web site for managing your account. They also have lots of extra features that most ISP's don't bother with.
