I went to try a pair the other day and they were unbeleivably tight compared to previous pairs I've had.

Anyone else on here wear them and find they've changed ?

I have a few pairs and they have all made my feet/heels bleed before they became comfortable. Maybe I've got weird feet.

They are manufactured in the Far East now and there are common complaints that the fit is tight, the quality is poor and the leather feels 'thin.'

My recommendation is to source from Solovair, who are still based in Britain and made the original Dr Martens under licence. They make fantastic shoes and boots, right here in the UK in Northampton.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service source all their uniform shoes for fire crews from Solovair and they are brilliant.

If you are still in any doubt, below is a picture of a Solovair boot. Beats anything Dr Martens can produce in Thailand now.

They bring back uncomfortable memories for me.

Havent worn them since December 1987 (on a good day I can remember the exact date) when I sprinted (yes really) into Victoria Train Station through that exit/entrance that serves the coach station side (this is before the station had the shops and everything above it) in order to catch a train.Buckingham Palace Road is it?

I am sure anyone on here who wore docs will testify that after a while of wearing the sole got a bit 'smooth'. The ones I was wearing were second hand. At best. It had been raining.

So you can imagine the shame, embarrassment, not to mention pain as I skidded round the corner and did, what felt like, loop the loop in front of a station packed with christmas shoppers just about where the international cheese centre now thrives.

Picked myself up. Limped to a non existent train with tears in my eyes as the one I was after had departed whilst I was in mid air. Got on the first one that came in in order to get out of the place, docs in bin, home in socks.

Never worn the friggers since!

Arsenal I think, sure there is a photo of a pile of boots on the pavement.
I remember the police getting the West Ham skinheads to remove the laces out of their Docs.
