OT : 2 stroke engine mechanics.....

rebuilding a little engine that ceased up (not enough oil)....i have got the crank spinning again after cleaning and oiling.....but not sure how to refit the piston - the two rings are in the way.

i know its basic stiff, but without a special tool (engine on last legs anyway) how does one badger the rings in to fit? do they need the ring gaps in special places?

Brother in law walkerd in as I was reading this and he is an expert he said.

there are 2 pins and stops the gap lining up together. When lined up with pins you need a piece of tin or jubilee clip to make a clamp ,clamp in and lubricate rings and drop barrel over it. Should just tap in with a piece of wood.
