I'd like to see Martin Scorsese get the Director's gong this year, simply because it's long overdue and The Departed is his best effort since Goodfellas (for which he should have been crowned but was criminally robbed*).

DiCaprio was very good in Blood Diamond (saw it in australia recently) and I hear he was good in the Departed, so I expect him to get a nomination.

Helen Mirren has won all the major awards so far for The Queen, so seems a certainty for the Oscars.

Saw Blood Diamond previewed on Film 2007 last night, looks like a really good film, DiCaprio at his best.

It certainly is mate powerful stuff and DiCaprio pulls off a zimbabwian accent really well I thought.
Djimon Hounsou is excellent as the father trying to get his family back together again.

Bloody good film.

I agree McShane, every so often a film comes along that rates as a must see, even having only seen a two minute preview and a brief interview with one of the actors, Blood Diamond definitely falls into that category.
