Woman jailed for burger attack

A Texas woman who ran over a McDonald's manager after not getting mayonnaise on her cheeseburger has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by a court in Houston.
Waynetta Nolan,37, flew into a rage at a drive-through restaurant when told her order did not come with mayonnaise.

The manager, Sherry Jenkins, came outside to pacify Nolan but she was knocked down and dragged across the car park, suffering a broken pelvis.

Judge Brock Thomas said it was one of the most absurd cases he had tried.

"I sure hope it was worth it, because you'll have 10 years to think about it," he told Nolan as he sentenced her.

Jurors were earlier told about the chain of events last April that led Nolan to commit the aggravated assault.

She drew up at the Houston drive-through and insisted on having mayonnaise.

When the employee told her mayonnaise was not an option with her order, Nolan threw the burger back through the window, cursing and shouting.

When the employee called for help, Ms Jenkins came outside to the car park to offer Nolan a special order.

"I gave her everything she asked for - mayonnaise, no mustard, onions, everything I could possible do for this lady," the manager told reporters.

"Mayo, mayo, mayo, and it's still not good enough."

Witnesses said Nolan's car lurched forwards, knocking the manager down and breaking her pelvis.

Nolan said her foot had touched the accelerator by accident when she leaned forward to put ketchup on her french fries.

"I was going through a bad time in my life," Nolan told the court.

"I was having a lot of problems."

Did you? I found it quite manipulative, especially when Michael Moore exploited the two Columbine victims for the sake of his crusade. Don't get me wrong, what happened was terrible, what happens is terrible but I got more than a whiff of self-promotion.

Well, I can easily believe it, no big deal. You have to bear in mind that many parts of the US are very backward, it's a third world country with the morality and values to match. Live is cheap and many Americans are so stupid that they don't stop to consider the consequenses of their actions until too late.

Now, as most know I'm anything but anti-America but I can see it's faults too.

Really? I thought he went to interview them, and then one of them had the idea about going to the hypermarket and asking for a refund. (Can't remember which company, so won't try and guess, and then get sued...)

I mentioned on a recent post that Mrs BHA lives across the road from her ex-husband's Aunt. This woman is a public nusiance who regularly calls the Police complaining about her neighbours, 99% without any grounds. We ended having no less that 15, yes 15 visis from various Police departments (including a visit from the DEA) because of this woman's lies. Anyway, she was finally halted when she was told that she'd be sued for slander (we had ample evidence) and the resulting loss would have had her thrown out on the street.

Over here she would have been arrested for both wasting Police time and harrassment. Doesn't work like that over there.

But, the point of the post is this: The aforentioned head case actually receives a Welfare Cheque as she suffers from mental illness (she has issues with anger, very serious issues). Okay, fine and dandy except for a couple of small problems.

The first is that she has a gun license and a gun. The second is that currently her nephew is staying with her and he's jobless, he's also fresh out of prison after a five year stretch. He has two elder brothers, both finishing off a ten year stretch for armed robbery.

Strangely enough we plan to move soon.

Across the pond
It's people like Charlton Heston that REALLY scare me.
As said, in some parts of the states the intellect really is basic.
I went to an open air gun market in Virginia a couple of years ago, and to see the sort of people showing an unhealthy interest in what was on sale, was truelly frightning to watch. They were selling firarms and live ammo on the same stall, these redneck types were like kids in a sweet shop.
