I use Sainos but do one shop a month for all the heavy stuff and then just get basics at my local shop in between.

I buy fruit and veg and don't have any problems. You can order loose quantities or you can order pre packed.

One thing I found though, is that no matter how often i do a shop, I still spend the same amount. So I changed from weekly to monthly for that reason.

sainos deliver any substitutions in a different coloured bag so you can check them and reject them at the door if they are not suitable. Sainos are much more punctual for delivery imo. Usually I have my stuff within the first 10 minutes of my slot.

I hate traipsing round the supermarket doing a big shop. You waste so much time walking around, unloading the trolley, packing it up, putting it in the car, unloading and unpacking. boring!! Doing it online takes 10 minutes or so, then there is just the time it takes to unpack it all. Worth the £5

Never tried it, but if it's like any other delivery firm ever, don't you have to give up a day of your life and wait in from 8 in the morning til 6 at night, only to get a 'We Called But You Were Out' card through your door?

No. With Sainos you get a one hour slot and with Tesco a two hour slot. Never tried the others so can't speak for them but it's not like Argos where you have to be up at the crack of dawn in case they deliver early then you receive your delivery in the evening or the minute you make a quick dash to the bathroom!

I use Tesco's every week and have never really had a problem. You can write a note for every item you pick if you want so you can put 'green bananas' or whatever so they know better what you want.

All substitutions are delivered separately and you can easily return them with the driver if you don't want them. Also, if you later discover when you unpack that something has a short sell by date or your fruit is manky you can ring up and, every time that I have, they've refunded the item with no problems at all.

With Tesco you can book your delivery right up to the early hours of the day you want the delivery and they normally still have slots available. With Asda and Sainsburys I find you have to book 2 or 3 days before normally.

Like several others have mentioned I always use discount codes that I find on the web and normally get at least £10 off each order so I find that I not only save loads of time, I also save money.

gave up, i found the companies expensive. I had a lot of veg etc I had no use for. You find that you react to the food they give you, instead of planning your food around your requirements. Once I got an organic unwaxed lemon, that cost me £1.50.

The local market does me 10 lemons for a pound?

I would love to eat organic food. But we use our local market about the quarter of the price of the supermarket, generally fresher, and if you look closely and develop a relationship, with the stall holders, we can get organic for quality prices.

LC

I've just signed up to a local produce thing in Hove, do a search and you'll see my carrots from last week. Happy so far. I agree you do react to what you get and it is a bit of a lottery and you have to be a bit creative but I kind of see this as fun, and getting back to the seasonality of food. Crucially we dont get too much so nothing goes to waste. I think I'd bulk at a 1.50 unwaxed organic lemon. I'd want it polished for that.

I'm on a program to try and help local producers and purveyors. I'm also buying all my music from Rounder now.

I'll put in a vote for Tesco. They have easily the best website.

Ocado have cheap delivery, the best drivers and the lowest substitution rate but their product range is small and expensive.

Sainsburys - I can't recall exactly why we stopped using them but I think it was poor quality produce, short shelf life and a really high (and inappropriate) substitution rate.

Asda we won't use because they pick their produce from a store I am reluctant to shop in anyway - dirty and really poor quality produce, which is not always true of their stores.

Right, when exactly on the Saino's thing does it take your mutlibuy stuff off. I've used em just the once so far and it was pretty decent but it says you it takes dsciounts off at checkout. However, they've flung me a 15 quid discout thing that you have to put in when spending 75 notes or more at checkout. With all the multibuy stuff my bill would be less than 75 sheets and the voucher redundant.

It's far too f***ing confusing.

It deducts all the multibuy stuff at checkout so yes if you fall below £75 you won't be able to use the voucher

So why not just add on something else to bring it back just over £75 and take advantage of the £15 discount?

Not sure if it accepts the delivery charge pushing it over the £75 quid either?

It's okay, I've worked it out. The special deliveries run out so you have to book your delivery slot before shopping.

What a pain!

Didn't think of getting a dvd actually. Am fast running out of stuff to spend money on.
