DUPLICATE from Ask the Club as posted it in there by mistake.

Anyhow...

If you ask me this was an absolute disgrace.

Now, I am not going to knock Liz Costa because she has been doing a great job helping people to games for YONKS.

However, her comments on the phone in last week of 'Well, we are only running one coach because people have had ages to book up and if they havn't by now they won't' was a bit disappointing. Not sure how many people realised the significance of this game back in March...

BUT, as I said, I don't want to knock Liz.

The fact is that for such an important game and for a ground which was such an arse / expensive to get to by train the club and not Liz SHOULD have laid on some coaches.

Even ruddy three or four subsidised so people could travel for a tenner or something would have been good.

The only time we ever seem to go the coach thing is when the game is on Sky and the club has the TV money to help foot the bill.

Surely, with season ticket renewals about to land on our mats and with Slade, players et al filling the back pages of The Argus with how great and important our support is it wouldn't have been too much to ask for the club to splash out on a few coaches to FERRY the fans oop North.

Shame. Another example of our superb support being taken well and truely for granted.

1. A thank you to people for putting up with CRAP all season. A good will gesture a week or so before asking us to shell out 400 plus quid again for next season.

2. To get more of what we keep hearing is VITAL away support.

3. Why the hell not?

If the alternative uses for any money at the club were:

(a) line the pockets of the board
or
(b) subsidise the travel of the supporters tot he odd game

then I'd agree with you and go for (b). However the alternatives are:

(a) trade at a loss and scratch around every year to get better players and to pay for the stadium, so keep every penny and put it towards improving the club
or
(b) subsidise the travel of the supporters tot he odd game

So I go for (a). I think that answers (3).

(1) and (2) are not very sensible suggestions so don't warrant a reply.

I can't see why the club can't organise coaches to away grounds, other clubs can manage it. Back in the seventies we had the Seagull Special trains which were always sold out, York City return for £4, and Sunderland for a fiver!

Why does it need to be subsidised to a tenner? The club could have offered organised coaches for about £20 or £30 and it would still have been a pretty good deal. The problem is, no one seems to want to pay for official travel!

Wolves yesterday had clearly organised coaches for the majority of their fans as there was practically an army of them driving back along the M1. I don't know if they did it for free or whatever but we could have done something similar and it might have seen a few more fans making the trip.

Surely this is just a historical thing, there is hardly ever more than one supporters coach because there isn't a demand for more than one. If you want to go by coach everyone knows how to pick up the phone and call the supporters club.

Maybe there were a few spaces because it was announced on the phone-in the other week it was sold out and they had stopped taking bookings...

Id imagine a few people got ill and missed the game or something.
