For all the excitement about our new signings, and new-signings-to-be, it seems remarkable that today was primarily a BHAFC 2023/24 starting eleven and, with the likes of Verbruggen, Estupinan, March and Ferguson still missing, below full strength too.

Minteh was the only new face to start and Rutter provided the very late cameo.

Yes - my first thought when I saw the line up.

My brother-in-law is a keen Man United fan (a proper one) and chatting to him this afternoon he said, rather patronisingly, 'Brighton looked quite good'.

I replied that it was a slightly below-par performance by our 'previous team' - and by the time we play at Old Trafford later in the season we'll be up to speed with our first team in place.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who got to the Amex and, on seeing the team, felt just slightly deflated.

I mean, I knew Gruda wouldn't play, that Kadıoğlu and O'Riley are yet to sign, and fully expected to see Rutter on the bench, but I had hoped for Wieffer in there, so that felt marginally disappointing.

But I've had it in my head that with injuries and fitness and transfer deadlines, we're unlikely to see the full squad on a match day for a few weeks yet, so I'm trying very hard to be patient

A win with Hinshelwood as a stand in left back, who is fast becoming the new Gross given the number of positions he has started in.

When the final signings are secured and everyone is fit, the big difference between last years team and this, will be the depth of the bench. Which will be great, but the opportunities for youngsters to gain first team minutes will be severely limited.

That injury list is finally clearing (Wieffer aside) with the surprise of Enciso, Igor and Lampty on the bench. Verbruggen expected to play Tuesday. Just Estupiñán, Ferguson and March still waiting. Just an unbelievable squad. Anyone know when Pervis and Evan are due to return?

Fabian answered a question about Ferguson and said he was recently back to full training with the team. Very positive about Evan's skills and striker attributes.

I'm blaming you if we lose
