Album - 'The Joshua Tree', U2. Got into them 16 years ago now in 1987 when the album was released, saw them on that tour - have loved them ever since - now over half my lifetime.

Single - 'Rio', Duran Duran. Thanks heavens they didn't re-release it last Summer in homage to Rio Ferdinand. First song on the first album I ever got - copied from a mate's sister's album onto a cheap tape. Still play the tape now - it wouldn't sound the same if it didn't have the crackles on it. And yes, I'm still looking for Rio - "from mountains in the North down to the Rio Grande".

Film - 'Chariots of Fire'. Great musical score by Vangelis. I love watching athletics almost as much as football - off to the World Championships in Paris next week and hoping to make to Athens next year. Though the film is slightly inaccurate and makes no reference to Eric Liddell's bronze in another event in the 1924 Olympics, it always inspires me when I watch the young men "with hope in their hearts and wings on their heels".

Book - 'Pilgrim's Progress', John Bunyan. A brilliant allegory written by a very unlearned man in prison.

TV Show - 'It's A Knockout'. Just to hear Eddie Waring's "early bath" and hearing Stuart Hall laugh would bring back childhood memories flooding back.
