Olympics, am I being tight ?

I'm not sure if the Olympics is worth all the hype anyway. Most stuff can be viewed better from the sofa FOC with numerous angles and replays without wasting cash on tickets and being herded round East London.

Plus sitting around for hours waiting for something to happen - isn't that what Sussex County Cricket Club is for?

I'm not heavily into any of the Olympic events, althoough I generally watch the track & field with some mild interest. Would quite like to go for an afternoon/evening in the Olympic stadium, if only for the "I was there" aspect of it.

Just got around to booking. Prices are, indeed, ludicrous - and eees complicated by being a ballot.

I'd be happy to splash out on one premium event, but might not get tickets. So I'm hedging my bets with loads of smaller 'bids'. Could end up spending £1000+ (unlikely). Or nothing.

Also, annoying to see that the early (cheap) rounds of the beach volleyball are women AND men. Tsk!

"Ordered" £20 tickets for Diving, Athletics and Badminton. Wouldn't pay anymore for the events really, it's just so I can see the stadia and take in some of the atmosphere

Gone for Cycling (@ Velodrome), greco-roman wrestling (@ExCel) and football semi (@ Wembley) all on 7 Aug 12 for an Olympic day in the smoke. Cheapo seats for all. Kids only pay their age on the wrestling. Should be OK for the footy and wrestling tickets. Cycling may well be high demand.

Isn't everyone a little concerned exactly when the money will come out?! It's between a period of one month...longer if it's balloted...won't there be loads of people who miss payment due to the uncertainty?

Not sent off yet but so far Athletics 100m and 200m Finals nights, cycling Men’s Sprint finals, Tennis Men + Women 1/4 finals on Centre Court, a swimming finals session. All cheapo tiks £250 so far! May apply for BMX and/or boxing. Tennis seems best value as its 8 hours.

I think tennis is the event that best sums up what a rip-off the Olympic events are. I haven't checked for a while but when I first looked at the prices it seems they were charging more for tickets at Wimbledon for Olympic tennis than they were for the Wimbledon Championships, which, considering Olympic tennis is, comparitvely, a crappy event that no one realluy cares about, is absurd!

I've gone for opening ceremony, rhythmic gymnastics (the other half loves this - I think it is shit), and 2 athletics slots. All cheap tickets - my maximum price is going to be £166 (assuming I win everything that I bid for, which I won't).

I really hope I get something at the Olympic stadium...

Semi-final of the football at Wembley - £30 cheapest and £40 for the final. Could be decent games if past history has been any guide.

The rowing comes into the same category as the cycling...i.e...the prospect of a decent medal haul....therefore demand is very high.
I know the father of an International rower and he has only got a ticket because of his son. He has paid over £600 for the qualifying heats and finals.....and you tell me whether that is a good spectator sport.
Personally, I'd rather follow them down the course on tv.

Think they are about the same if not cheaper. Ground entry is £20 which is the same as Wimbledon. Expensive seated tickets are more expensive than seated tickets for Wimbledon but the cheapest are less.

The football is a bargain. You could see world class teams for less than it costs to see league one football.
