Even if you hate palace, you have to hate Chelsea more.
Disgusting club and everything that is wrong with modern football.
They've given my club £223,000,000, 6 points, and finish below us.

It hard to hate anyone I'm permanently laughing at.

I’m not sure I have as much sympathy with Palace as some. They got a player they rated for a relatively small sum and signed him over others who were in for him quite possibly because they agreed the release clause. They might not have got him had they not agreed this? So don’t see the issue on this transfer in isolation.

My bigger issue is the lack of teeth FFP has. If Chelsea are cheating they should face relegation, banning from European competition etc. Instead they will get a fine that they can clearly afford.

They also gave us Keith Dublin, Gary Chivers and Doug Rougvie...

A few people fairly well informed reckon they might be ok by PL FFP. Long contracts, moved on some top wage earners, made 100% profit on academy players (£80M-£90M+ this window). In previous 3 years they had a £32M profit, a covid year where losses were halved so they have a lot to play with. They are gambling / stockpiling now with a view to get into Europe when restrictions are tighter on contract lengths for example, but doesn’t account for players already signed

palace didn't have to sign him on terms unfavorable them.
They knew what they were doing and this is the end result.

I say that but a release clause of £70m would show they knew what they were doing.
£35m for a player you intend to be part of the focal point for an EPL team makes no sense at all.

It's almost as if they signed him assuming he'd be shite.
For a laugh, we should have made an offer at that release clause figure.

No.I cannot hate anybody more than Palace. Give yourself a reality check.
If you want a reality check, then read post #42 in this thread.

People are seriously comparing our childish (but fun) pantomime rivalry with palace to the financialized destruction of football, which in itself is just part of a process by which almost everything in society that matters is being destroyed by the toxic combination of greed and power?

We've had the financialised destruction of football since Jimmy Hill scrapped the maximum wage.
And if we want to stop our society destroying itself through greed and power, we should probably stop voting Conservative, at every bloody election.

Most of us don't, never have done, and never would do - our antiquated electoral system regularly gives them huge House of Commons majorities on 43-44% of votes cast

Without wanting to derail the thread too far...I am pretty confident that the next government will not be a majority Tory one (in name at least). I am far less confident that what we get instead will do anything significant to challenge greed and power. Not in football nor anywhere else.
