Oldham manager Iain Dowie is still desperate to add to his depleted squad ahead of tomorrow's season opener against Brighton.
The Latics almost went out of business in the summer and the financial problems led to a number of players quitting Boundary Park.
They included defender Fitz Hall, Clint Hill, Josh Low and Julien Baudet.
Dowie knows new arrivals are needed if his side - who finished fifth last season - are to avoid the drop to Division Three.
The Latics' boss, a well known lookalike for Earthworm Jim, said: "We will be in serious trouble if we do not make additions to the squad and maybe Saturday is a wake-up call to the powers that be."
Oldham captain David 'Pubic' Eyres (ankle) is rated 50-50 while right-back Dean Holden (thigh) is also a doubt and striker Chris Killen-Mesoftly is fit again after a foot and mouth problem.
