Oldham in for Owusu?

Adelaide United expect to secure Lloyd Owusu on a two-year deal, despite competition from Albion and Oldham.

The Latics have reportedly entered the race for the 32-year-old striker with the offer of a two-year contract.

Adelaide, though, reckon their proposal, worth £100,000 per season, will be a winner.

Owusu scored twice during an in-house trial match.

His agent Richie Hinton said: “Lloyd Owusu told me that he’s happy to stay in Adelaide and we’re currently in the middle of negotiations. But there’s always a possibility a UK club might come out of the blue.”

I wished he'd have a shocker if he had a match trial. But he goes and scores 2. Cheers Llyod.

We won't (rather than can't) compete with a £100k a season, 2 year contract.

I'm not actually that fussed. I'm thankful to him for the role he played in keeping us up but I don't think we should give him a 2 year deal at that amount.

I think we made a mistake here and should have offered him a 2 year deal then he would never have gone to Adelaide.
Looks like the deal offered there will be too hard to turn down.
The standard here isn't great and if he keeps firing will be hero worshipped.

He was OK, but no more. Sure he scored some vital goals, but I don't see him as a first choice striker on a regular basis.

If we don't sign him we can find better.

Totally agree with that

He was brought in to do a job, he's done that and think we should move on. I, for one, think that Davies will come on leaps and bounds next season

If he had signed, he knew he was behind Murray and Forster in the pecking order, and is not really the sort of Striker you can play out wide a'la OGH or Craig Davies.

Hope you're right.
Good luck to Lloyd if he goes to Oz. Rather that than Oldham :ascarf:

He's been quite honest and open about it: he wants regular football and he wants a two year deal. We can't/haven't offered him either of those so he ideally he wants somewhere that will. Fair enough. Thanks for what you did at the back-end of last season Lloyd, we wouldn't have stayed up without you, and all the best for the future.
