I remember some number plates from when I was a kid:
My mum's MG Metro was D878 WYJ
My dad's Vauxhall Cavalier was H39 SYC

Completely useless information, and I have no idea what number plates they have now.

I find this phenomenon intensely annoying. I can remember all sorts of useless rubbish including phone numbers, licence plates and song lyrics from before the age of about 30. Then is was as if the storage filled up, and I've not been able to retain a bloody thing since.

This

In 1966 my dad bought a white Triumph Herald - 36 HKJ - I was 6 but for some reason that number was important to me - no idea why?
In 1971 he part-x'd it for a blue Mk 2 Cortina EUF 435D
In 1976 he bought a greed Hillman Avenger FMP 48J - when this failed its MOT in about 1982 it became my first car - "Sherman" as it had that many welded plates on it ...

Since then I've probably owned about 10 cars and 50 motorbikes but cannot remember any of their reg plates ...

I do recall and old phone number but since that forms part of most of my internet passwords, I'm not sharing with you lot....

CYM 245C my first car - a cream mini 850. Bought it for £185 with a loan from NatWest of £160.
246 EWC one of my dad's - a grey Vauxhall Victor
I can offer a selection of my other former cars, but my mother never drove.
So here's her Co-Op Divi number: 23116, not the first on here I see. Co-Op Divi numbers must have made a big impression on us post war youngsters via the door step repetition.

EPO 48H Triumph Herald I owned in the early 70s.

Strangely though, owned many cars since then and I haven't a clue what the registration numbers were.

Lovely evidence that your father was a true son of Brighton.
