For those interested, Old Maps is a great site. I think it may have been mentioned before (Can't be arsed to look) but it has been updated with a number of post war editions meaning the spread of maps date from the mid 1870s to the 1990s plus urban areas have the addition of the last set of Soviet maps drawn up in the late 80s - see what your street looks like in the Cyrillic alphabet.

I was window shopping in Brighton today and stumbled across an old map dating back to when Withdean/Westdene/Tongdean was merely farmland.
