OK - who's been trying to hack my account then??

Just had this email thorough

Dear larus,

Someone has tried to log into your account on North Stand Chat with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 68.114.196.186

All the best,

Can't think for any reason why anyone would want to hack my account ??

That IP address has never been used to login or post on NSC.

You could always email

abuse@charter.net

and ask them who has been using that IP address?

They probably wouldn't tell you, but if you say they were brute forcing your account on a website they may take action.

It might be more sinister if you have made any posts about islamic fundamentalism or the BNP

No. What I'm saying is that it's highly unlikely to be another NSC user trying to 'hack your account'. Rather, it will be a third party (or the software of a third party) trying to compromise NSC accounts.
