That is an abosulte JOKE, I know I hate Man U alot, and my opinion maybe clouded, but if any other team that they would have the rule book chucked at them - that is dodgier than what Leeds, Luton or Pompey have ever done
But it's alright because they are Man U.

f***ing DIRTY SCUM.

Spurs made the complaint but that doesn't prove it's true, much as you are desperate for it to be.

I think Levy has played a blinder...make a big noise about United being underhand and earn brownie points with your fans (plenty of whom are not happy with you), whilst all the time knowing that a) the player wanted away and b) you were happy for him to go so you could collect the money.

Play hard to get, 'complain' to the FA, anything to stall until the last minute and see the fee go up and up.

Brilliant!

That is quite simply WRONG. Levy has done it before, most notably when Arnesen went to Chelsea. He cried foul and threatened to report Chelsea, until they came up with I think it was £10m for his services. Then all talk of a complaint disappeared.

I'm sure he will do well there and good luck to him.

Don't think he is worth 30m though. Rather have Robiniho in my team

I've got to agree with Mendoza here - because they're rich United can just run roughshod over every rule in the book. At one point last night the only bid Spurs had accepted was from Man City, who therefore had permission to speak to him. But they never got the chance, because at that moment he was having a medical at United. I also agree that Levy's been very clever, but I'd like him to complain to the FA anyway. Or we can hope that City do instead because Man Utd illegally interfered with a potential transfer for them.

The problem being that Man Utd would have no case to answer. Unless they forced Berbatov to stay at Old Trafford rather than go to Eastlands, it was down to the player, not the club, that he didn't speak to Man City. As I've said, a lot of clubs do it. It is though, as you say, pretty much directly associated with how much money you have. That's why Chelsea and Man Utd are the worst, followed by Liverpool.

IF United acted illegally then they should be punished but I still think Levy knew EXACTLY what he was doing. He knew that Berbatov wanted to go to United and the only alternative to that was for him to stay at Spurs. He could not have forced him to go to City, accepted offer or not; a club simply can't do that.

He has sold a player who no longer wanted to play for him and pocketed over £30m, probably a few mill more than he would have got a week or so ago. Very clever.

Where was the indignant statement or press release from Spurs during all those hours yesterday when everyone knew where Berbatov was?

Sorry, I am confused, what did Man U do wrong? They approached a player after repeatedly asking for permission to do so, something Man City can only have done once, seeing as before yesterday they didn't have the means to buy him. The player wanted to move to Man U. Man U then offered ENOUGH money to Spurs, and now he is a Man U player. Thats called the transfer system. FFS get over it, Man U can attract those sort of players, and they will go there, similarly they can hold onto their players. As for Robinho at City, that really is a joke, do you think he'll be there for more than one year? I doubt it.

Rubbish! The bloke was in contract talks and having a medical before a bid was accepted and before he was given permission to do those things!

Man United, and Fergusson in particular are one of the biggest reasons why the whole football system in this country (and probably the world) is such a disgrace. Fergusson goes mental when Madrid try and get Ronaldo to sign for them but does ten times worse himself when signing Berbatov.

Their record with signing YTS players from all over the country is just as bad. Slap on the wrist and a small (in relation to the players future value) fine for pinching players that clubs like Albion spent years developing!

I just find it an absolute joke that nothing will be done about it. Man United have broken the rules, they've ADMITTED thay have broken the rules, but have essentially BRIBED Spurs into not reporting them! Surely if the FA is aware that somebody has broken the rules it doesn't matter if Spurs report them or not, they shoud have to investigate it?

Tottenham accepted a bid from CITY and gave permission for CITY to talk to Berbatov.

Berbatov didnt go to Man City because he was having a medical at UNITED despite no transfer fee being agreed and absolutley no permission given to United to talk to Berbatov.

Yes Berbatov wanted to leave, but if Man U were not given permission to talk to him, then why is it OK for him to be driven by Ferguson to Carrington for a medical?

I ask again, if Man U asked repeatedly for permission to talk to him then why were they not granted permission? If Man City asked, it can only have been the one time, yesterday, why did Spurs give them permission and not United?

When a team askes for permission to talk to a player it should be granted if the player wants to leave, or the club wants to sell him. It's not up to Spurs to decide who they do and who they don't want to sell him to.

In the case of Ronaldo, Man U said categorically that he was not for sale, but in the case of berbatov, he wanted to leave, he wanted to go to Man U, so what the F were Spurs doing refusing permission, only to then allow City permission at the 11th hour.

Are you MAD?

BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT AGREED TO SELL HIM TO UNITED!

Either United had not matched the required fee, or Tottenham simply didn't want to sell him to them? They own him, that is their RIGHT?

Only last year Gabby Heinze want to go FROM United TO Liverpool but United refused to sell him to them, even though they matched the required valuation!

Manure are the ultimate double standards club

Isn't it?

Surely not, he wants to leave, they agree to sell him, surely they should allow him to go where he wants. If you leave your job to go to another, can your old boss stop you going to a competitor? Don't think so, it's a restrictive practice and is unlawful I believe.

They can decide who they'd LIKE him to go to but they can't MAKE him go there.

A club can't force a player to go to a club. If he doesn't want to go and he is still under contract. they have to let him stay until they come up with a club that he is happy to go to, or when his contract runs out, they just release him.

I believe that Levy knew all along that Berbatov was going to United.

Football contracts, and sports contracts in general are completely different to yours or mine. Footballers are essentially owned as if they are an item not a person.

If you wanted to buy my laptop that was for sale at the price I wanted for it but I didn't like you and didn't want to sell it to you nobody could force me!

They agree to sell him at a certain price - which United hadn't met. Berbatov was under contract, so under FA rules he's not allowed to talk to other clubs unless Spurs give him permission to do so - which they hadn't for united because they hadn't offered enough money.
