Oh how I hate painting ceilings...

particularly artexed ones!

Apart from the obvious ones like "pay someone else to do it" or "don't paint them the same colour as before" does anyone out there have any practical hints to make the job simpler.

Also I recal a few years seeing in a DIY store (not Focus honest!) a ceiling paint which went on as a different colour (pale pink I believe) and then went white as it dried. Is this still sold, I don't recall seeing it recently so perhaps it was cr*p!

Yep you can still get it - its from dulux called Magic White...friggin expensive though...

To be honest, I'd get rid of the textured ceiling with that coverall type DIY plaster stuff though, artex is a real downer if you ever plan to sell....

Having said all that - your arms are going to be aching whatever you do

The Flaw with the magic white is that you still need 2 coats.....so not so magic after all

I take it you won't be applying for The Sistine Chapel job then

B&Q sell the paint that changes from pink to white, then use a roller on a broom handle.

I thought that as this thread will be 3yrs old tomorrow I would resurrect it, guess what I have being doing today?

Have tried the Dulux "Magic White" and in all honesty it helps a bit but only just. What is really needed is a paint that goes on black and dries white, do you think that Charlie Oatway could invent this for us?

That's what I have been doing today. I always use magic White and can get away with one coat.
It's a horrible job, but I just get my head down and Bosch on.

Yes, get the wife to do the painting, and you use your energy to walk down the pub whilst she does it.......simples!!!

Quicker and cheaper to buy the 4mm thick ceiling plasterboad and cover the lot, fill, sand nice and flat to paint
