Loftus Road was definitely freezing!!!

The food was awful, a very poor selection compared with the selection of dodgy selection of burger vans we have at Withdean.

The QPR fans didn't turn up, one tier of one end and a COMPLETE side were empty. And the fans needed supplimenting with music when they scored - dire.

Another great turnout from the Albion faithful though, the lower tier was full, and I suspect there were a fair few in the top too!!

The first half was awful: a shocking mistake by Roberts for the first goal, I didn't think he was fouled but I thought there was a suspicion of handball by the fella who bundled it over.
The second goal was from a terrible pass from El Abd (who apart from that, didn't play too badly), Thorpe took the chance well.
To be honest, we were lucky to go in only two down.

Second half and McPhee on for Chippy, and we look a different side. Most of the game is played in QPR's half, Yeates is having a stormer and McPhee is leading the line brilliantly. Leon looks more interested in falling over than doing anything else. I can't comment on the incident where he was clutching his face as I didn't see it - I suspect that most of the crowd didn't. What I do know is that he does dive an awful lot and refs are wise to this now and I thinks he's going to be lucky to get much change out of them.

Today's ref is a bit of a homer and lets some dodgy QPR tackles go (and misses at least two handballs). McPhee's goal is from a deflection although the lad deserved it for all his hard work. Jones and Hart come on about midway through replacing Harding and Lee (who was shocking) and the pair of them added something down the flanks, although, all too often, the final ball was poor.

I'm not too bothered, I'd take this defeat if it means we get something in the league. Hope QPR get better organised though, it was chaos getting in - I go to the ground at 12.45 and got in at 1.05, that's a pretty disgraceful show.

Unfortunately the catering and facilities in the away end are not as good as in the home stands, which are, incidentally licenced. I found the food selection OK, but then I don't like burgers. Were there none? Loftus Road is still one of my favourite grounds, although I''ve been used, when I go, to being in the main stand. It was strange adjusting to being in the away end and not supporting the hoops! I lived and worked in London for a time and used to watch them when I couldn't get to Brighton away matches.

Can't really disagree with anything written thus far. Took us about 15 mins to get in to the ground, but we weren't worried as the Steward told us kick off was delayed. Imagine our suprise as we walk in at about 3 mins past 1 to see the game underway - idiots!

Stewards told us to get out the aisle (despite there being no seats) and to go upstairs. We wandered off as instructed and were told we couldn't go upstairs! After much confusion we were let up there and enjoyed the lack of refreshments on offer and some quite incredible refereeing.

Comedy moment of the afternoon was Artois drunkenly throwing his toys out of his pram at the lad behind the kiosk when told there were no crisps!:lolol:

I'm still furious about the Leon Knight incident.

I was just behind the goal and about a minute before Carlisle and Knight had had an altercation. As a result when the ball was hoofed upfield I continued watching Carlisle to see if he did anything. As a result I got a very clear view of him elbowing knight in the face - No question about it - it was a clear elbow with no hint of a dive. OK so it was only the LDV but a trip to Cardiff would have been nice and Leon is now suspended for the league match with wycombe.

The fact that Leon dives in every match doesnt do him any favours as he has now built up a reputation for himself.
Although he does get kicked a fair bit referees are less likely to beleive him when he is genuinley fouled.

To be honest when I first saw the Knight incident I thought Knight had gone down and made meal of it and that Carlisle hadn't really elbowed him that badly, but i just saw it on TV and Carlisle definitly elbowed Knight in the face. Also the lino didn't see the incident so how did he know Knight dived

And there first goal was definitly handball i had a great view of it.

Bloody Ref and Lino :censored:  :nono:

I was at the game today Mcghee talks out his backside and should be honest about the side he will select rather than getting our hopes up. The ref was shocking absolute disgrace. Almost as bad as Prosser. I missed the incident with knight but turned on sky sports news when i got home and it was clear as day leon was elbowed in the face and to book leon was the cowards way out from a coward of a ref. Performances wise Mcphee was fantastic when he came on, Yeates was good in the second Rehmann was pretty useless and Pethick needs to go I was at Lincoln in the cup and he was just as bad. the first goal was caused by him giving a needless corner away from what was a simple clearance. Butters did a decnt enough job so did Mayo in the second and El Abd was fine. I do feel sorry for him though because he had a great game and didnt deserve to make the errror which cost us a goal. He should keep his place next week because other than that he was sound. O yeah Kuipers in Roberts out kuipers is a better shot stopper.

Well bring on 3 points on friday Vale shouldnt be a problem.

We were worse than poor in the forst half - clue less.

Roberts hesitated for the first goal. Second a basic error but we never looked like we would score.

Second half much more positive. Didn't see what happened with Knight but I assumed it was Culkin as he went down near him. Problem is Knight goes down alot why ? Who knows as he can score goals as well - must be due a ban shortly for 5 cards ?

Good game of footie look forward to the real fixture in the league.

Looking at the starting 11 its hard to worry about the result to much.

I was at St. Mary's and I really, really want Falmer. :glare:

David Lee was incredibly poor today but at least McGhee has now seen how inadequate he is at Div 2 level. I would be surprised if he featured in a Brighton shirt again.

I also clearly saw Carlisle elbow Leon.

What amazes me is that the ref consulted his linesman and then booked Leon. WTF did the lino think he saw?

The ref was absolutely useless all game, but we lost it because McGhee put a stupidly weak side out in the first half. I thought we wanted to progress in this competition.

Never mind. The league's more important at the end of the day, and the kids enjoyed the day out.

QPR enjoy the moment January 24th will be different.

When we play Barnsley? Why will that affect QPR? If I was them, I'd be more worried about we play them a week earlier, on the 17th..:D

Shittu was the difference between the two teams.

He's so big and strong no one can get past him.

Once upon a time in the 1970s and 80s QPR played some quality football, and were noted for it. They only just missed out on the championship in 1976. Now Ian Holloway thinks those days are gone and have no part in the current QPR style. Which is his way of saying that he is a completely talentless bully who will only buy donkeys, carthorses and junkies. Such a pity, because at one time QPR were my 'second' team. Now he has ruined the name of a good family club.

Agreed, Shittu did do very well. Having said that, once you got the ball behind him, he was vunerable. When we play them on January 17, if we have a real go at them - we have a great chance of turning them over.

The way we played in the second half gives me heart. Some of the passing and moving off the ball was excellent. First half I'd rather forget. At least McGhee definitely knows now where our strengths lie.

The officials were complete ****s. I was watching the lino, and he was preparing to move up the line for the goal kick. The ref to be fair didn't see the incident and consulted his lino. I wasn't hopeful because lino never flagged for the incident. So if nothing happened, was he booking Leon for cheating? If so, why didn't he flag for THAT?

In my opinion lino completely f***ed it up - cheated, bottled it - and cos the ref has to take the word of his official, he booked Leon. It wasn't so much the ref - he was shit enough in his own right - it was the linesman who was totally Prosser-esque.

I echo every one's thoughts on the match but still can not believe the elbowing incident. I saw it on Sky later and they said Leon was booked for play acting!!!!! If he needs witnesses to support him getting the card recinded I'm sure every Brighton fan would. The ref was a disgrace and lost control of that match some of his decisions were very poor.I'm not disappointed we are out of the comp but disappointed to lose to a bunch of thugs who use there size and not their skill to beat us.
