I have been to Oldham plenty of times and think Normandy has been on the Waccy Baccy. It is not San Tropez, but niether is it the centre of urban decay you describe.

Where are the Brighton going to go then? I'm going to the 'Bluebell' pub with Beefy and Mr Latic. :drink:

(Providing I successfully negotiate the country and don't end up in Norwich or something) :jester: ;)

Turkey if you look on the official site you'll see a route planner.

Basically A23, M23, M25, M40,M42,M5,M6 then it tells you to come off at junction 19 and cut across to Oldham.

Although it is longer it may be worth your while sticking on the M6 to the M62 junction & following signs for Leeds to junction 20 and coming off there depending on traffic because you can keep up the speed. If it is busy then by all means take the advice on the route planner.

No probs there then Turkey M23, M25 to juntion 21 M1 straight up to Leeds (Wakefield is junction 40) signs to Ripon from Leeds.

Then head back to Leeds join the M62 junction 27 and head towards Manchester coming off at junction 20

I'll be going up the M1 to the M62, then down the A627M.

Avoids Birminham & Manchester..... much quicker.

Of course Alan Brazil would always advise M1, A50, M6 etc.

You're right BHA.

We simply join the M62 at junction 23 to junction 20 (A627M) from here

I shall be drinking in The Old Grey Mare up on Rochdale Road. It's a decent size, with a conservatory and garden, and does pie and chips for about £1.50.
