Coppell said something along the lines that you could never rule anything out in football (some tired old cliche like that anyway!) but it doesn't look that promising

Just said he was training with us, looked good, had had offers from Japan and Saudi BUT his family would play a part in his decision.....and they are happily settled in East Grinstead of all places, so the wait goes on I'm afraid!

Oh, and there is more chance of hell freezing over (my words mind, not Coppell's!) of BHA signing Kanchelskis (spelt wrong, apologies!!!)

Dancin Ninja - what was actually said about this? Is there no chane?

As I said before. Kanchelskis is registered but not contracted to this weird club!

That means we would need international clearance. It has taken 2 weeks I think to get Wilson-Denis's clearance from IRELAND.

So if he does come we'll be waiting awhile.

With regard to the stadium 2006-7 is simply being realistic.
With the recent delay in the public enquiry the earliest we will get a decision is around Christmas this year. This would only give 1 1/2 years to tie up funding (no matter how good a business plan is no-one is going to fully commit/sign up for a stadium without planning permission) and build. Dick Knight is not stalling. Simply being realistic. Besides after all the years without a ground will one more season at Withdean really hurt us?

Not the real one
And another season and another and another. Don't think it will stop at 2006/2007. Then it will be later in 2007 and the start of the following season and then who knows??

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
I for one am encouraged by what i am reading.
Keep the faith.

Henderson is a good signing on amonths loan, we could probably extend it if things go well.

90 % on the sides in this division rely on loan deals, and we have to crackers already.

Roll on Saturday.

So far as the stadium is concerned, hasn't Martin Perry done it all before with the McAlpine at Huddersfield?
I think he's got his head screwed on and he really works hard for our club.

It SHALL come to pass...................

One final thing!!

Coppell announced, without announcing the name, that Roberts will be the No1 keeper

Some numpty then got on the mike and said FDM was well respected and loved by Brighton fans (true) but we (ie the fans) would want FDM as No1 keeper, not Roberts!!

Not true sir, dont proclaim you speak for all Albion fans, I'm quite happy for Roberts to be No1 and so were all the other sitting around me
Don't worry, DNBHA ... As the numpty who asked the question (which was simply "How is Steve Coppell going to keep both goalkeepers happy?"), I was surprised at how definite he was that Roberts will be our number one. When Ian Hart unexpectedly thrust the microphone back at me, I thought I'd try and push things a bit further by reminding him that the FDM has a massive following among supporters. The response confirmed even more that he is expecting Roberts to hold his place and that the best Michel can hope for is that he stays poised to take over in case of injury or an unexpected run of bad form.

I, too, am more than happy with Ben Roberts in goal.

If I'd have had the opportunity to ask a third question it would have been this:-

Given that Kuipers is a good goalkeeper, much admired by other managers, why don't we sell him and raise a bit of money? There will always be a loan keeper somewhere if there's an injury to cover. And the FDM will have a well deserved opportunity to play first team football.

Spoke to Yorkie on the weekend and she reckoned, having spoke to some Middlesbrough fans (I think), that Ben Roberts was a bit injury prone. Kuipers would appear to be the same. Hopefully if they get injured they'll get injured at different times. Things don't usually work like that here though do they. They'll probably both slip over on some steps and break their legs. :jester:

Don't agree with you there. I'll have to listen in to the repeat but I got the impression he felt we had two good goalkeepers. Quite blatant who is number one is though.

I feel a return to the days of the old Steele or Moseley debate.

Whilst a big Kuipers fan I revel in the fact we have 2 great keepers at the club.

At least we can argue over the merits of each goalie, rather the talk about eachothers favourite perversion, felt tip pen or way to eat a banana, as has become the norm on this once great forum.

Where are the Harveys and Shirts of yesterdays?

Oh yes. Forgot to add. Coppell said that he had one phone call in which the name Danny Cullip was mentioned. This manager wants to know if Cullip ever becomes available. Coppell made it out to be not very important. Suppose the Arsegas will make it their man story!

With regard to the stadium funding, we must remember that the plan has changed from building in phases to building in one go, so DK must be pretty confident of the funding or we'd be back to the phased option.

I for one will be keeping the faith until proved otherwise.

Coppell let slip that he has been disappointed by the form of two players (gave the impression they were 1st teamers) in pre-season games

Having not seen any of the games, can anyone shed any light on the players he was referring to??

Piercy was pretty poor for the first half at Arundel, looked like had forgotton how to kick a ball, I lost count of the number of crossing oppertunities he had and could lift the ball over a daisy.

The Woking and Crawley games were so poor he could have been talking about pretty much anyone apart from McPhee

Loan signing fella had better be good, why no Rougier though, I thought he would make perfect sense, did anyone bring it up at the forum?

That was what I assumed Coppell's thinking was - until tonight. I'm now not convinced that he rates Kuipers at all.
What do you know you numpty?
