Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has been appointed to The FA Council as one of the EFL's representatives, and also to The FA's Professional Game Board.*Tony Bloom

The FA Council, works together with The FA's board, executives, and staff to deliver an effective and professional organisation, governance and structure for English football, from grassroots right through to international football.
The FA's Professional Game Board's purpose is to debate matters specifically affecting the professional game. It is made up of a small group of representatives from professional clubs in the Premier League and the EFL.*
Barber will sit alongside Manchester United's David Gill, Arsenal's Ivan Gazidis, as well as the new CEO of Norwich City,*Jez Moxey, Jim Rodwell from Scunthorpe United, and senior executives from both The Premier League and the EFL.

It underlines his standing and credentials at the very top level of English football, where in addition to his role on the EFL board, he has a responsibility to represent the professional game in helping to shape the very future of English football."
Barber said, "My career in professional football started at The FA almost 20 years ago, and it will be a great privilege for me to return to serve as a council member and a member of the professional game board.*
“Council members do great work supporting both grass roots football and the professional game up and down our country and I'm very much looking forward to playing my part as one of the EFL's representatives."

In addition, to previous roles in professional football at The FA, Tottenham Hotspur and Vancouver Whitecaps, Barber played senior amateur football until aged 33, and spent a further decade coaching youth football, working with under-9s through to under-18s before moving to North America in 2010.*
