I suspect I will retire my SB at 22.21 with a PB age grade. At least I did it twice in two weeks. Have much Christmas related stuff to do tomorrow morning before I leave for the game so any run I do will be before first light and on the 28th I will be going to the game via effing Steyning. Good luck chaps if you do make it to parkrun and a happy running Christmas and PB filled New Year to you all.:xmas:

I shall be in the dry and oddly sunny north, looking forward to Darlington South Park parkrun in my BHAFC Christmas jumper, that'll go down well! I led from KM 2 last time I was there, getting caught by the eventual comfortable winner at KM 4 and then being pipped up a hill (I am still quite gutted by that) to push me down into 3rd. I'll be more than happy with another podium this time, and anything close to the 17:56 would be nice ahead of the PB attempt at Preston Park on Christmas Day.

:albion2: Merry Christmas to all, I shall be back in town on the evening of Christmas Eve. At that point, I should be able to upload runs taking me to the magical 250km for December to qualify for the top whack medal in the Run Up To Christmas challenge!

Huffed and puffed round Hove Park at full pelt. As expected came up a minute short at 21:49 (73.49%) but did enough to end up 5th in the Arena 2019 Parkrun Series (subject to my calculations). Rememebered that regardless of time and position running flat out is great fun.

The odds have lengthened for a succesful bid for the Silver NSC AG next week but I'll do some intervals Christmas morning just in case.

Awaiting the results to come in from Darlington South Park................

Well done. Nothing from me today. Giving the knee a much needed rest. I've just put a fiver on you for the silver!

Gaffer: check out his link. It is comprehensive in that it gives details of all Xmas and NYD parkruns and times. The downside is that many have yet to declare. The 28th in Worthing could be good!

https://www.parkrun.org.uk/special-events/

Thanks nothing going on round here. Worthing Xmas Day at 9am with sunshine and a light 5mph North Westerly is the nearest. It could end in divorce though and finding a minute on time will be nigh impossible, so good chance I'll be at home nursing a hangover.

Hope your groin and body is on the mend. I'm still on for the 28th.

Had a little shuffle today. Felt a lot better. Plan to do Worthing on 25th and (if no reaction from this) the 28th. Last year the Worthing route was a special Christmas Day one, with a trip around the pier included. Not sure if they are doing it again. The turns on the pier were a bit tight and slowed us down, but that's a very Scrooge-like observation when people went to the trouble of organising it.

Sounds like you'll either be Preston Park bound or bed-bed bound on 25th!

Wonder if the awesome Artie will show up on 28th?l

After a bit of research, looks like Bradford Parkrun for me on Christmas Day. Lister Park promises wide smooth tarmac surfaces - sounds great - three laps consisting of two long downhill stretches and a ‘teeny weeny’ uphill section - parkrun irony?!

Did that one a few years back, lovely park, definitely not flat though if I remember correctly! Short sharp hill I think.

I'm still hoping to make it to Worthing parkrun on the 28th! I'm trying to get my brother and brother-in-law along too. I'll know for sure once we're down and I'll post to confirm

Happy Christmas guys! :albion2:

Better warn the volunteers to set the finish up early

:lolol: I'm nowhere near my fitness at the start of the year and haven't been doing any high intensity workouts for a while so I won't be troubling the sharp end but I'm looking forward to running my "home" parkrun for the first time! It looks like Worthing gets some seriously rapid guys and girls

I was going to get in touch dazzer as I'm thinking of tackling my first ultra next year. Both the NDW 50 and SDW 50 are full ( I know they are really popular!) but it looks like the Chiltern Wonderland 50 in Sept. is still open. I was just wondering if you've done this one and if you'd recommend it for a first timer taking on a 50 miler? Thanks!

A chance to see the 2019 table before it changes into the 2020 table. Great year running from everyone this year.

All to play for between the old legs of GNT and myself at the Worthing showdown where we have the NSC Champ making a visit. 20:48 too much for me and expecting GNT to push the injury aside and take advantage of going up another year.

Yeah ok then

I did the CW50 this year - it's absolutely brilliant. Beautiful, varied course, mostly offroad with a few playful hills thrown in (and one colossal bstard of a hill). Usual Centurion quality of organisation and aid stations etc. I'm hoping to do it again next year - really enjoyed it. Can't recommend it highly enough. It's as good as any for a first 50 miler really.....it's tough without being too brutal with good variation of terrain without any likelihood of serious mud or water, and plenty of support. Also a good time of year really - you'll start and finish in daylight at your pace and we should avoid the worst of any summer heat.

Many thanks for the insight dazzer! It sounds awesome! Centurion do seem to be to the best out there in terms of organisation. I get the sense the NDW50 and SDW50 are their marquee 50 milers but watching a few youtube videos of the CW50 it looks great and works out better for me in terms of time of year and yes hopefully Sept. won't be too hot. I think I'm going to treat myself and jump in before it sells out. :bigwave:

I’ve done all three....SDW is good for me as it’s on my doorstep (well, part of it is, I live about half way along it but know the route inside out [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]), the NDW is also good, again a lovely route but lots of steps. The CW is my favourite to be honest.....it’s an almost perfect 50 miler. See you there !

Evening all! 735 miles driving done since the last post in this thread from me, along with 16 miles run. Darlington parkrun attracted some top talent on saturday, I was pushed down to 10th in 18:12, which is my 3rd best time ever - so I can't grumble in the slightest. People loved my festive BHAFC jumper, as you'd expect!

Sunday I did a 10 mile route taking in the parkrun again (I ran it 20:07 at something approaching full available speed), after 5 miles including running around the perimeter of the abandoned stadium there on the A66. Today I needed to run off a hangover, so I did 8 x 200m sprints (although 5 of them were closer to 210m) around a park. I am pleased with the pace (36s (2:57/km), 39 (3:05), 37 (3:05), 39 (3:02), 41 (3:15), 41 (3:14), 41 (3:08), 43 (3:24)) of them and we'll see how I get on at Preston Park tomorrow!

You've got your driving and running mileages mixed up mate.............. surely they are the wrong way round ?

I'm just getting back to a sort of normal routine after 3 moths or so off with a niggly (torn) calf - still proud to announce that my 2019 mileage is more than the Mrs has done in her car :lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol:

22:23 and 36th place at Bradford for me this morning. Nice course and lots of festive cheer. Got to decide where to go on Saturday now - Myrtle?

Happy Christmas everyone - have a great day!
