I'm really pleased with my Barns Green watch time of 1:27:13. Don't know where that came from!
Great to meet up with big nuts who made it to the start in the end, and gets extra kudos for turning it in to a brick session by cycling to the course and still putting in a handy time!
Likewise. Not sure if the 20 mile bike ride helped or hindered. I was certainly warmed up for the start, which was good news as I got there at 09:38. Just enough time to get changed, down some water, eat a banana and take care of toilet business.
Cycling into Barns Green I spotted Scott Overall who is a c2.10 marathon runner and I’m pretty sure he’s competed in the olympics. I’ll check later. Anyway he ran the 10k in 31 minutes, which doesn’t seem hugely impressive based on his track record.
My watch had me in at 1:29:18 which I’m truly delighted with. Almost 3 minutes quicker than last year and made all the sweeter ivo the tricky arrival and trip home (I got the train by the way).
Sets me up nicely for bright 10 but a rest very much required. A final word on Barns Green, superb again and it could well be my favourite race of the year.
