I had a Mazda Bongo in Aqua Marine. Brilliant colour.
No excuse for not going sub 3 now you have them.
Fingers crossed, training seems to be going well so far
I've just 'rescued' our thread from the bottom place on page 5. This is the equivalent of the Albion finding themselves on the edge of National League (South). Tragic.
If we can populate it with our weekend runs then we can restore it to its rightful place towards the top of the EPL.
I've taken to running up hills in the evenings. But the evenings have to be mild and the hills have to be short. I've also altered my 'intervals' routine to 500m at 5k pace minus 10 seconds (i.e. just sub 4 mins per km pace for me), with 2 minute recoveries. Only managed 6, so room for improvement.
Hope this will enable my 5k times to be maintained or (ideally) improved. Anyone else tweaked their training for the new year?
Set my quickest time of the year today rolleyes with a 19:30 at my second closest parkrun. They were using their B route which is almost all tarmac, however the course is about 150m long to try to prevent records being set on it, so Strava has it down as a 18:57 5k and all time PB.
As an added bonus it's quite a quiet event and I got very lucky with who turned up, and was first finisher.
Goal for this year it to try and get sub-18, but might move the goal posts slightly and say that can be on the track.
If, by tweaked, you mean let it fall off a cliff due to a combination of too much work, rain (I know, I know) and life getting in the way, then yes. And I'm nailing it!
Just a couple of miles this morning, but hoping for a longer one tomorrow morning. I'm definitely not going to be running as much as last year and won't be getting hung up on if I don't run every day. I've realised the value of rest days, plus life/work is going to get in the way and I don't need the extra mental pressure on my head.
So, in a more serious answer to your question, GNT – yes, I guess I have! I've still got Moyleman and Manchester to train for (plus whatever else follows later in the year), so I can't afford to take my eye off the ball too much.
The board has full confidence in you...........Seriously, your track record, including that hellish Ironman in Wales (Tenby, I recall) indicates that sort of madness that can be re-visited for those two upcoming events. Good luck!
Yep, Tenby it was. Awesome experience but fitness-wise it feels like a world away from now. But the difference between now and this time two years ago is that I actually WANT to be out running and really enjoy it when I do make it out.
As to your point about this thread slipping down the board –*it might not be busy at the moment, but it must be one of the oldest threads that is still active on NSC. I'm sure Bozza has a easy way of working that out but, based on a quick glance of the first few pages of The Big Board, there don't seem too many others...
Doing a brown orienteering course today for the first time.
Good luck, try not to get too overexcited and run too much of it, keep it slow and keep map contact!
Went to the new local (flat) parkrun yesterday to see how I'm progressing after recent focus on trails. Smashed my 5k record by nearly two minutes (22:13) despite a largely sleepless 2 year old all week and a flooded course. Think I can actually go faster!

First run of the year for me. I got a Fenix 6 for my birthday and today is the first time I've used it for running. Does anyone else have one? It measured the first mile WAY short. I ran what I know is a 5k, yet it measured the run as 3.5 miles and the middle mile way short which gave me an 8 min mile dead. I've not run one of those in a while.
Will it sort itself out?
