Ha I looked on there and still couldn't work it out.

Yes it was the all seeing Gaffer who told me you were there - after the event! And yes, it was us who got place-checked at the start- it never occurred to me that someone else from NSC would be at this one - shame as it would have been nice to say hello! My finishing time of 23:42 will gve me away in the results!

My wife is from Otley (and bumped into someone on the parkrun who she last saw when she used to horse-ride on the Chevin 40 years ago!). My Mother-in-Law lives in Addingham so we have ticked off most of the local parkruns over the last few years - Skipton, Roundhay, Bradford, Myrtle, Cliffe Castle and best of all Fountains Abbey.. We'll be up again for Christmas and I think Woodhouse Moor may be on the cards as they are running on Christmas Day - be nice to say hello if you are there?!

Thanks for the Strava invite - I was just about to do the same but possibly to the wrong person :D

Great stuff. I can never hear a word they say at the start as that bloody yappy dog is always there but I just overheard the word brighton.

Think I will have to give Christmas day a miss as will need to save myself for the Chase. You may be able to get an entry on Facebook if you're lucky?
Have done Woodhouse once but was incredibly busy. Did Cliffe Castle on Christmas day two years ago which was ace. You know there's a new one at saltaire too right?

Yes Saltaire at Roberts Park - we’ll definitely do this one soon as really enjoy visiting Saltaire but they’re not running on Christmas Day. Don’t particularly fancy running on Woodhouse Moor as brings back too many memories of being chased over there when I was student in the 1980’s!

Chevin Chase looks fun but we’re visiting other parts of the family in Lancashire on Boxing Day. Love the video - I remember that year well, we were staying with the Lancashire branch of the family for Christmas that year and set off for Burnley parkrun on Boxing Day morning- the photo shows what we were up against - thankfully the parkrun got called off about 8:45 and we went back to bed!

Notters - to add to the 'small world isn't it'. Did you see the woman who was doing the ultra on Saturday and added in the parkrun? Turns out she hosts a parkrun podcast with Mark Brocklehurst, Event Director at Hove Prom. Mark spotted me in her video of the day!
Here it is if anyone interested - some nice shots of the parkrun in first ten mins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuf03tZzIDo

You're right there, the question is who are you and how did you know?
Presumably you were the one they announced as being from Brighton at the start?

It's my local. Just ordered some Salomon speedcross 4 gtxs so planning on running to the start this week from home (~5km). Am a bit off the pace having had covid and various other lurgies in the last couple of months.

Got the Chevin Chase to look forward to on boxing day too.

One of my old team is a neighbour to the Brownlees - think he usually does this too. Never done it myself but looks a bit like the Brown Willy Run on New Year's Day which I have done - great fun to do and clear your NYE hangover if anyone is in that neck of the woods (starts at the iconic Jamaica Inn)

https://youtu.be/C_mzB-NmmpA

In other news, still doing nothing more than 'maintenance jogging' really here. AT does seem to be improving just a little - about half way through planned course of LLLT.

Hahaha, funny you should say that, I did Brown Willy 2020 and will be doing it again this year - my wife is from near there. There are similarities, but not sure why that guy is going on about mud, it isn't really mud there it's just peat bog. Chevin Chase has about three times as many people, not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Excellent….a mate and I did BW a few years ago as a group of us went to The Manor for a New Year’s thing. Definitely not mud……just peat bog as you say. Good fun though - evidently not a race but sure there are local bragging rights :lolol:

My AT is also improving but extremely slowly. Ran 60m walked 60m for 2 miles Tuesday and Wednesday. Held up well and feels better afterwards. However, in the morning the slight pain walking downstairs returns for a couple of minutes. Walked for 6 hours round London yesterday and it became sore by the evening. OK today to walk 5 more more miles.

I'm following the "if pain 3/10 or less run on it" but only short slow bursts to check all is ok. Could run a Parkrun tomorrow but will see this through with discipline.
I'm now one of those weird Hove characters walking 12 minute miles sweating in civvies on the way into Brighton along the Prom.

Having table trouble today but here is the new format.

Met Simgull this morning and his fine run equalling my SB has led to me changing the table to 5K time for a new perspective. I stay above him as it's my table.

Back in Sussex
Confined to home with Covid, I'm running "lounge laps" to keep the run streak alive.

When (Covid-free) Mrs B is out with the dog, I shunt the furniture around a bit in the lounge diner to create the smallest running track in the world, and run around it. Lots. Having to negotiate a tight hairpin after every 9-10 strides makes for a different kind of challenge, but it's working me hard! I have no idea how accurate my watch is under these conditions - I set it to "Inside Run" so I guess it's acting as a pedometer and not using GPS, but I'll be over 50 miles for the week.

Can't wait for next Thursday and my own personal "Freedom Day"!

Very pleased this morning. Best parkrun time for more than five years and best ever AG of 73.41%. I’ve felt a good time has been coming, conditions were perfect so tried to just keep ahead of the 21 min pacer which worked.

In other news, I see Geraldine Moffat ran an 18:58 pb for an AG of 96.75%!!!!

All in the table above. Good to bump into you and hopefully you'll remember what you had to say next time we meet.

Bloody Worthing!
Checked out the Crowborough 10k/5k (a race I last did in 1989!) and saw that they were taking entries on the day, so entered the 5k. Nice enough run but with a brute of a hill in the last 2k. At least on the 5k we only had to do this once. Managed a 23.11 (course was a bit long) but this was good enough to get me 3rd in the men's race. Tip: if you are a glory hunter, and there's a combined event, always do the shorter of the two as the competition is not so fierce.

Good running senior. Looks like you're ready to benefit from a Birthday in the final week of 2021. I'll send you my unused energy.

Another running set back for me. A 14 mile walk yesterday has taken the pain level to 5-6 out of 10 and back to where I was 2 months ago. Not a problem as walking on the Downs is an enjoyable replacement and I can continue to do that with rest days. Looks like running may be a good few months away.

Oh that's bad news. It certainly seems a long time ago that I was chasing you (unsuccessfully) along a sunny Worthing prom. You are without doubt getting some miles in your legs.
Yes, the birthday looms and all being well the 1st January will be my first post-birthday event.

Anyone know if there is a good definitive list of running events somewhere? There seem to be loads of websites like 'letsdothis', but it's a pain having to trawl through them.
In particular, I'm doing the Chevin Chase on Boxing Day and the Brown Willy Run on New Years Day but hoping there might be something in between these in Devon/Cornwall.
Annoyingly with Christmas and New Year being at the weekend, there are no parkruns etc, as far as I can tell.
