Not when I tried it

Strange when a small ale becomes very popular people 'in the know' slag it off.
I would not mind betting that if 10 years ago you happened to be in Cornwall and tried a local brew called Doom Bar you would have liked it.
Although I will admit it is very inconsistent, I had 2 pints in St Ives on Sunday in two different pubs, the first was a fabulous pint, quite thick with a creamy head, beautiful, the second was the complete opposite.
I have found this with Doom Bar for a couple of years now, but a good pint is a great pint, but it's all subjective.
I predict the next one to go all Doom Bar will be Dartmoor Brewery (the highest brewery in the land) Jail Ale is stunningly popular in this manor squire.

What I meant was that I tried it after the Coors takeover and it didn't taste as good as it did before the takeover, when I liked it - that's not slagging it off, it's stating an opinion

10 years ago in Cornwall I was drinking St Austell HSD, now the last few years its Proper Job, insipid Doom Bar never got on my radar.

Yer expensive for a beer festival at £12. I bought early for £9 each, They price it as non profit and anything over the top goes towards the academy.

10 different bands on throughout the day plus a disco.

For those in the Worthing area, the Brooksteed micro pub has now opened their own off licence - Bottle & Jug dept. Popped in the other day and they have a fine selection of craft beers. The shop is in the old cycle shop next to Worthing railway crossing on South Farm Road.

Nowhere near the ridiculously wide variety of Trafalgar Wines in Brighton but far and away the best choice now in Worthing.

the snobery is odd. many of the "craft" US beers we see in the supermarkets has long been owned by large corporates. there is an assumption that as soon as a company is taken over, the accountants will cut costs, and therefore quality/flavour. it might happen, at least try first? Camden Town and Meantime both been taken over, i couldnt tell the difference in the beer.

Doom Bar is a beer i swerve for inconsistancy, few times i've literlly turned my nose up at it. good bottled though. dont think this has anything to do with its ownership, which one would expect would improve the consistancy, right?

Ha. Hello mate. I’m familiar with all these, especially now the new Stone Tap Room is a 5 minute walk from my office (I’m heading there in an hour). Arrogant ******* is their flag ship, the one that started it all. It’s very good strong bitter ale. Little ******* is a weaker version and it looses the strength which is what makes Arrogant so nice. Stone IPA is a solid IPA. Go to IPA and Ripper are okay, but for craft heads they’re nothing special Imho. White Ghost is really refreshing light sour hoppy weiss with notes of apple. Ruination is one of my favourite beers, a really really really bitter but lovely DIPA. And Xocoveza is a stunning coffee porter.

Popped in this week. Picked up their Unbarred collab, some Cloudwater, Tiny Rebel & BBNO.
