If this ends in a tie, dollars to donuts the US goes out on GD.

That shocking display against the Czechs will come back to bite us in the ass...

The thing I love about watching games as a neutral is that you can change allegiencies whenever you want. Lots of respect for the US tonight playing 9 v 10. Almost want them to win now.

The US broadcast has a 'text-message your choice for MotM' -- and Zaccardo's not an option....

FT 1-1.

Now US have to beat Ghana, a team that must be sky-high, and by enough to squeak by on GD.

It's a tall order...

I always thought that this was the group of death with every game having something in it.

The two games this evening have both proved that: a couple of belters.

The '69 Harvard-Yale game ended in a tie -- a legendary game.

Headline the next day in the Harvard Crimson:

Harvard Defeats Yale, 29-29

I reckon that will do for a headline tonite...

Congrats to USA, they really held possession well and deserved their point.

Poor night for Italy - Lippi has got to sort out a lot of poor midfield options now:

Perrota the Englishman - average even before his knock
De Rossi - nutter
Totti - nowhere near back to his old self after long injury

Why did Lippi take off his only world-class striker Toni? Very strange as Gilardinho and Iaquinta are workmanlike at best at this level. Even a poacher like Inzaghi would have been a better option?

I want Italy to do well in this World Cup but their big team status has taken a knock tonight.

Not true, if the US beat Ghana and Italy beat the Czech Republic then Italy wins the group with 6 points and the US go through as runners up with 4. Czech Republic and Ghana would both have three points.
If it was to end up on goal difference (or goal differential as the commentators keep insisting on calling it :censored: ) then the US would be screwed because of the 3-0 loss.

Much better display from the US. Played with real spirt that was sorely lacking in the first game. But why didn't Arena use his last sub for the last 10 minutes or so? The players were dead on their feet (for both sides) and fresh legs could have turned the game at that point.
US commentators complained about the sending offs, but I think the first US red card was justified. He was studs up right into the ankle. Pope's second yellow may have been a little harsh, but it was certainly a foul.
Damn, now I'm going to have to take time off work to watch the last games of this group.

In London village.
I'm in a total stake of shock having supported the U.S of A. for most of the game (against my better judgement), soley because of the that bent bastard of a ref and the usual diving cheating Italian scumbags.
