They had to do that really.. Otherwise there would have been no room for midfielders not playing for Spain in the squad!

That Coentrao was outstanding, I thought.

Gerrard had a relatively decent tournament, by comparison to various England players, but to suggest he even belongs on the same team-sheet as Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Khedira and Xabi Alonso is a bit of a piss take. He utterly disappeared againt Italy after a promising first fifteen minutes.

Mostly fair enough, however (despite different positions) I think there's an argument for Terry ahead of Lahm, our defence was better than Germany's.

Wouldn't have Gerrard in there myself.

Gerrard got 3 assists, which I think was equal first in the tournament, that's why he was picked.

I would've selected Torres as he was the golden boot winner.

Ozil?.. One of the biggest disappointments of the tournament.

Didn't he got two MOMs?

He wasn't great against Italy (after being moved) but how much were you expecting from him?

Yeah, alright darling. ??? He never had opposition, did he. If he'd had to face James Milner at any point, we can safely assume he wouldn't have been able to cope.

When did we last have a GOOD wind up merchant? London Pompous is the only amusing one.

I can't see how after giving the ball away almost as much as Ashley Barnes during each match, still, I suppose credit where it's due, he was pretty much the only Turkish player to do anything all tournament.

Listen pal, I'm not a wind up merchant. I just happen to think there's more to football than what Coentrao was doing. If you want to talk about decent left backs, let's have words about Phillip Lahm of Germany, or Gael Clichy of the French. Jordi Alba re-wrote the book on how to play left back last night, even Ashley Cole was sitting up thinking "that's why I do, only better".

I thought Gerrard deserved to be in it. Some sublime crossing for the goals and the game against Italy was when the midfield was outnumbered and chasing shadows.

2 left backs in there and neither are Ashley Cole.

Do people still think he is the BEST in the world?
