My palais is running low on readable books and I can't face another crime fiction at the moment. Any good, wholesome, laugh out loud books floating about at the moment?

Perhaps we could give little reviews and a score, if that will help.

I mentioned in passing to an associate that I was going through an autobiographical phase and the kind (questionable) soul lent me Ashley Cole - My Defence. I didn't have the heart to laugh in his face. Needless to say, it shall sit in a draw until a period of time passes to suggest that I have read beyond the first page.

Any good reads out there?

If you're looking for something with a bit of humour, I can recommend a book called "Incompetence" by Rob Grant (one of the co-writers of Red Dwarf).

It's a black comedy detective novel set in a near-future world where you cannot be sacked from your job on the grounds of being crap at it. Most amusing.

Thank you. Red Dwarf does indeed induce a titter, not the same scale as 'Allo 'Allo, but amusing nonetheless. So being written by the same fellow, does bode well. I shall seek it out.
