ODPM press office

Just spoke to a press officer in Prescott's planning department and she, quite helpfully, said that: "Sometimes these decisions do drag on for more than a year." No news there, then.

However, she did make it sound like it was imminent, rather than months away, that they're getting daily calls from the Argus about it, and that they'll email / call ME as soon as the decision's been made. So, unless my phone and laptop both die simultaneously, I'll mail NSC as soon as I get the message.

Hmm...not much help, I'm afraid, but they're aware that they're still being badgered.

That's the thing. The PR girl I spoke to said they've never told anyone a specific time-span, it's just a case of "watch this space". But she did say it might (not the sketchiness) be imminent.

And like you'd trust the word of an MP

How long will it take the ODPM press office to find out what the decision is?

Who will tell them?

I'm not sure where they are based. If they're in the same building as Prescott, they are at 26 Whitehall. But that's not the building that is dealing with the Planning Application.

Maybe, once someone has posted the decision on NSC, we should let the ODPM press office know what it is?

:)

As far as I'm aware, they are in the same building. I've got the name and number of the guy who's looking after press for our inquiry - his colleague I spoke to said that this bloke would let me know as soon as he knew. Am not too confident that he'll do so, though.

Can't post his details on here, cos I called on behalf of work, but needless to say, it's not hard to find.

In front of the PC
Part of me wishes we had never started. This wait is killing me. I still fully expect there to be some other reason for a delay like the PC with all the documents on it getting stolen etc. The guy as had more then enough time to decide one way or the other, i reckon they are waiting for a politcal good moment to announce the decision. If it is yes will be before the confernece if it is no will be after.

Ahah! You're right. I've just dug out some old papers from the Public Inquiry. The ODPM press office is in the same building as the Planning Division. They are both some distance from Prescott's office, though.

At least both sets of civil servants managed to get on with their work over the last eight months without being plagued by bunches of flowers, valentine cards and hundreds of Albion supporters turning up on the doorstep, making lots of noise.

:)
