Albion are asking former skipper Charlie Oatway to help rally the troops for a relegation battle.

Oatway has been helping caretaker managers Dean White and Bob Booker take some recent training sessions following the departure of Micky Adams.

Albion hope his renowned energy, enthusiasm and fighting spirit help drag the side out of the League One drop zone.

White said: “Charlie is somebody who is bubbly around the place, he’s Brighton through and through and has that sort of fighting spirit we are going to need.

“You have to utilise every resource you can and bringing in Charlie was really positive.”

Oatway works with Albion’s community set-up and is also assistant manager at Havant and Waterlooville so is unable to attend Albion matches or some training sessions.

White made the most of last night’s postponement at Bristol Rovers to call his side in for training at Withdean this morning.

He said: “It was an extra session we were able to put on because we didn’t play the previous night. Normally we would have just had a warm down. And it gave the new boys a chance to see our stadium!”

Albion are preparing for one of the most important games of the run-in at Leyton Orient on Saturday, a match in which loanees Matt Heath, Lloyd Owusu and Al Bangura could make debuts but for which the Seagulls have numerous injury absentees.

The banned Adam Virgo misses the second of five matches and Dean Cox is also suspended.

Orient are one point and one place ahead of Albion, having played two more games, following Tuesday’s 3-2 home defeat to Peterborough.

White added: “We had someone watch Orient. The results last night leave us in a better position in terms of games played and points taken but we need to win games and Orient is a big one.”

Yes, he was available for the Bristol Rovers game aswell.

I'm glad we've got Charlie back involved, I saw them training about 5 years ago at Falmer, and Charlie really made an impression on me. He crossed in a ball which the striker attacking it failed to score from, so Charlie looked angry and asked if he wants him in there to score it aswell! Funny man is Charlie, I'm delighted he's involved again.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
We are in the relegation zone, lets all have a laugh and piss about at training with Booker and Oatway :clap::clap:

Better still ring up Nathan Jones, skip training and head down to the seafront for an all day bender:shootself
