Oatway close to full fitness

Brighton's Charlie Oatway is hoping to be in contention for a starting place against Oldham, after completing 90 minutes in a reserve game.
The 30-year-old, who has been out since late September with a potentially career-threatening neck injury, came through the game against Leyton Orient with no reaction, and is now aiming to make a first-team return at the weekend.

He told the club's website: "I'm definitely looking at Saturday. You have to aim for the next game or it's a step backwards in my book."

However, club physio Malcolm Stuart says the defender is lucky to be playing at all.

He said: "He had a prolapsed disc in his neck, similar to the injury suffered by Dion Dublin a few years ago.

"He had an operation to remove that disc and then to fuse two of the vertebrae together but there have been players who have had to give up with similar injuries."

It will be great to see Charlie back in the starting line up - I just hope that it isn't too soon & that he doesn't injure himself again.
