I just found out that if someone rings me and my phone is off BUT doesn't leave a message Orange will send me a text with the persons number showing that I missed the call.

Nice :jester:

I don't have a mobile phone. Don't like the idea of being at other people's beckon call all the time.

How many people do you REALLY need to call during the day anyway?

Got a phone as a result of being a Brighton fan - my car broke down on the way back from a match at Withdean and had to go into a pub/pizza restaurant to use an expensive phone. I worked out that a pay-as-you-go phone would be a lot cheaper, and more accessible in an emergency. Virgin phones were cheap and easy to get hold of at the time, and I've never swapped provider.

I use One-Tel as I don't use my mobile much. Tarriff is based on Vodaphone and the monthly fee is a mere £5. As I have a One-Tel landline connection which saves me a fortune (we all know why I have it I can't say who I call as it makes the 'Friends of Rik Waller society' unhappy) and I use somewhere I can't mention because once again it may cause the FoRWS throw their toys out of their prams.

Both links do save me a considerable amount of cash as I can also use the One-Tel cheap rates on my mobile to contact the person alluded to above amongst others.

O2, I have an online tariff which means I get 100 crossnet minutes, 500 texts and 500 wap minutes for 25 quid. I never exceed my limit so its a plain 25 quid a month.

O2, pay as you go £10 per month. I rarely use it for phone calls as I sit next to a phone all day. That tenner covers 300 WAP minutes and 300 texts for the month, more than enough.

I've built up nearly £40 credit on the phone in 6 months on this tariff, I'll never use all the credit up. So I just get ringtones and junk sent to it. Playing "Santana - Smooth" at the mo.

Marvellous.

I just noticed that too last weekend. Obviously a new handy service

I've now done some further research on the 3 Network Pay As You Go deals heralded in the adverts this week. They make abig deal on how it pisses all over the the other Networks deals.

What they don't draw to your attention is that when you buy a credit it expires in 30 days. What a f***ing rip off!!!!

I'm with Fresh (through Carphone Warehouse) which uses the T-Mobile network so chose that one. Have just moved though and now rarely get a reception in my house so I've just ordered a new phone on Orange. Tariff will be good, ordered online and get 500 free text messages a month for 12 months. That should keep me going I think.
