Bishopsgate no more. Creechurch Lane no more .

I hear in Brighton Duke Street and that awful Palace Manager is about to go and Surrey Street (dear Greg) is relocating to Queens Road.

Discuss?

No loss really. Far easier online and that way you don't have to mix with the drunks, druggies and failed journalists that frequent these awful places.

I find it amazing and a little terrifying that currently on Skybet I can gamble on:-

Vasalund U19 v Brommapojkarna U19

Not enough FOBT punters.

Well I eventually found a WH outlet on Wormword Street ( I cashed out a quickcash and needed the readies you see ) anyway this suit has a FOBT balance of either £159 or quite possibley and more likely £1159 but within 20 minutes was reloading at the counter with his debit card . And not to mention sneering at by £2 on 100/1 Bagatelle . That's fixed an all.

That is why that shop is still open, they are not interested in taking bets on horses and dogs where they might lose. Mini casinos.

The Surrey St shop is, most bizarrely, owned by a certain Victor Chandler who wants to turn it into two terraced houses.

They are a bunch of incompetent clueless guessers, home of betting my arse. I have been consistently winning this year after years of ups and downs and the tossers now let me win (not steak) just £50 a bet :tosser::tosser: I have an edge in a market that they are just guessing at and they pretty much closed me down after winning about £10k:facepalm:

My wifes account lasted 10 days after she took them for no more than 3k and could then only win £10 a bet.......this is a chat I had with them....

Hills: Hi, you’re speaking to Twatty. How may I help you?

Me:Hi, I was wondering why I can now only appear to bet to win a paltry £10, any idea why?

Hills: Hi.
Hills: I apologise, can you please clarify that?

Me:When I have a bet now, you will only let me win £10. For example I wanted £100 on the ********** market at ******* but you only let me bet £10.

Hills: I am sorry to hear that.
Hills: Let me check that for you.
Hills: Can I have a few minutes to check your account?

Me: ok
Hills: Thanks
Hills: Thank you for waiting.

Hills: Upon investigating your query, we can confirm that the decision to limit your stake in all sports has been done by William Hill management.

Hills: This was carried out after a thorough investigation of your previous transactions, leading our traders to regulate the amount of stake you can place on our website.

Hills: However, this restriction is only for Sports betting market. It does not affect your ability to enjoy other William Hill products such as Poker, Bingo, Games, and Casino.

Me:Why is that then? Are the traders not good enough to price accordingly?

Hills: I definitely know that could be frustrating. I can understand how you feel.

Hills: Unfortunately our Trading Department have taken a decision to restrict your business on Sports and that is why you have been receiving lower stakes and are unable to place any larger bets. However, this restriction is only for Sports betting market. It does not affect your ability to enjoy other William Hill products such as Vegas, Poker, Bingo, Games, and Casino.

Hills: Our trading department continually monitors accounts and are responsible for acting in the best interests of the business. Having performed a review of your account, they have made a conscious decision that it is no longer economically viable to accept your desired level of business, explaining the reduced staking opportunities you have experienced.

Hills: The Trading Departments decision was based on many factors, which, unfortunately, we cannot divulge to you. This is done in accordance with our site's terms of use: http://williamhill-lang.custhelp.com...p?p_faqid=6719

Me: ok, thanks. do you do the same when people lose large amounts or do you let them keep staking?

Hills: I apologise but I won't be able to disclose other client's information.

Hills: disconnected

Me: *****.

I know no-one gives a toss about winning punters that can't get on and most believe its not true but its a fact that they don't like it up em:tosser::tosser:

Back in the day going to a bookies was a real experience.
Firstly, the windows were blocked out with drawings of jockeys on horses and a man kicking a ball (for fear that people might catch sight of the inside and become gambling addicts) so when you walked in you were entering blind. For some reason I then remember a bead curtain (was that real?).
Once you actually got inside everyone seemed to be f*cked. One guy would only have only one arm. Another an iron lung. He would, nevertheless, have a rollie on the go as would the other 3 men in there meaning it wasn't clear what direction the desk was through the haze.
I would venture forward past a couple of men watching a horse race on a tiny television mounted high on the wall. There was no emotion, barely even an utterance, as they threw small yellow bits of paper on the floor and reached for pens that were a bit too small to hold comfortably.
I would collect a bit of white paper with carbon paper beneath and write "Grand National" and a horses name on it before creeping up to the desk past the copies of newspapers that were stapled to the wall. A woman would spend a few more seconds than she needed to counting bits of paper behind the desk before taking my slip, passing through a machine I had never seen the like of before and asking for double the amount I thought I had bet. I styled it out. It was OK.

You don't get any of that on line.

Magic!

The former WH shop in Brighton Road, Horsham which had been closed for a while and has now been demolished had a poster still in the window of Gary Lineker putting in a cross in front of a hapless Richard Gough - presumably from an old Home International fixture.

WH in North Horsham (Roffey) was always full of cabbies betting £2 a time on a 6/4 fav in a short field horse race.

Happy Days.

WH used to give me a 30% Rakeback deal on their poker site but they pulled that too recently.
