I'm planning on going to Hyde Park Tomorrow afternoon. Take in the atmosphere, watch the screens plus free concert by The Beat & The Levellers in the Evening. Worse ways of spending a day.

I've been checking train prices on the Southern Website: Bexhill to London all Zones Travelcard using a Network card, £13.00. Good deal. However: From Polegate an off peak Travelcard is £17.25 ! As the last train to Bexhill leaves too early, I was planning on driving to Polegate. I know what I will be doing re the ticket too!

Same on the west of the County: Travelcard from Worthing to London using a Network Card: £17.25. From Durrington: £13.00 ! ???

Anyone any clue's as to why the fares are structured this? The further you travel, the less you pay! ??? Maybe the Southern folk on here have a clue?

Try looking at the right fares , a super off peak travelcard is the same fare for Bexhill or Polegate same with Worthing . You are looking at the off peak fare not the super off peak for those stations

Just checked again. The option of a super off peak isn't there for Worthing or Polegate.

in the box that shows the different fares there is sometimes an arrow to scroll down. this is where the super off peak fares sometimes get hidden. hope that works.

one might consider that the further destination is less popular, therefore lower demand. i know, they are the same train going up the same track, but this is part of pricing. and subsidies.

also be very carefull that you aren't looking at online prices. i believe you book on line then collect at station, or get to station and find its a couple of £ more.

Just looked , its the Network Card that is the problem. A super off peak travelcard is there but not sure why it won't give the discount as it should show the £13 minimum

Not sure why? It's because Southern are shit house.

The Super off peak is same fare so buy the Bexhill one then and get on at Polegate

Won't this end in a court case though?

Try looking at the right fares

You need a Phd in nuclear physics to be able to figure out the right fares these days.
